So, not one team in the tourney in the entire state. UTA lost to New Mex State in finals.

The first time since 1977.

Didn't we have seven (or maybe even eight) one year?

That was easy...

2010 (7) - Texas, Baylor, A&M, UTEP, Houston, North Texas State, Sam Houston

That's crazy when u think of all the big time basketball talent this state is now producing.

I have been saying this for years. No school(s) are dominating this state, or for that matter, this region, for some time now, even though the HS talent clearly exists here.

There is absolutely no reason SMU can't be that dominant school. We have the location, school, prestige and resources. Now apparently we have the resolve.

Can't wait till the start of next season.

Funny how the NIT just get washed over - nobody cares and hardly any press.

The involved schools care, but the shift in media attention (and the fan interest it generates) happened a long time ago.

I think the NIT is a helluva tourney, and I must say that after the first weekend of the tourney, my interest evens out. NIT is window dressing to the NCAAs first week, but after that, the tourney slows down to so few games, I need good NIT on off nights.

My Terps are in the NIT field this year, and most years our fanbase wouldn't even want to go. This year, since the team is mostly frosh & sophs, we're all ecstatic about the possibility of a few weeks practice, and to see our kids play some more.

I agree the NIT has a great field this year. I'm anxious to see how good USM might be and how does the committe ignore the fact that Maryland beat a #2 seed twice? SEC well represented in this year's NIT, although I don't think they bring much to the table. I'm also anxious to see how SFA does on a bigger stage
