for these first 4 games should not count as a tourney win. They keep saying that this is NC AT's first NCAA tourney win ever, and La Salle's first win in 23 years. If you're a 16 seed playing a 16 and you win, it's a play in win, but not a tourney win. Sorry, just bugs me.

It's just part of the ever increasing "everyone gets a trophy" mentality. Back when the tournament expanded from 32 to 40 teams you had the same thing. Eventually we will probably see more of these games as the tournament expands (hint hint, the Catholic 7 will add another auto bid at some point). And first round games like this will be what we are used to. Originally, a first round win meant you made it to the Final Four!

Not disagreeing that we might have more play in games, but next year the plan is to drop an at large spot as the catholic 7 will have an auto bid next year.
