Celebrity Seating

Hope our powers that be will be smart about reserving some courtside seats for the celebrity drop in - whether it be a prized recruit, (sports or otherwise), local Mavs/Cowboy/Ranger players/coachs/owners, FOL (friend of Larry) or whatever. This sounds crazy based on our immediate history - but when something gets hot in Dallas it gets hot fast, and we can help ourselves by having certain people show up at our games. Hope we have "accomodations" for those folks. Its a key advantage we have over middle of nowhere universities - so we need to use it to our advantage. The new building with a "new" team will be the place to be.

Good thinking. Make the New Moody the place to be. Would be cool to get people like Dubya, Cuban, Deion, Dirk, etc in the building to create a buzz.

Do we officially have a marketing/promotions group now? Are new people involved that have great ideas like this? There's no doubt that SMU hoops is on the way up, and you are dead on with how quick people jump on board in Dallas. I'm just worried that its status quo in that department and we've seen how dreadful presentation etc. has been for so long. Hoping that things are changing for the better as this team gains momentum locally and nationally.

One would hope so. In-game presentation needs to be on point in the New Moody.

We ought to have a green floor like a lush meadow.

I think celebrity seating is a great idea. I think SMU needs to work on some of the local celebrities to get them to come to some of the opening games next year. Maybe the cast of Dallas (RIP LH), some sports figures, GWB, whoever.

Maybe we could cash in with Dallas' retro-vibe at present and get Vanilla Ice season tix....

It's a great idea. Get any celebrity with a connection to SMU, Dallas, LB - Prime, Aikman, Iverson, Cuban. I'd also like to see JJ at some off the games court side. The only game I saw him at this year was the one where the football team was being honored at the half, and looked like he was about to go to sleep.

I've seen JJ at a few basketball games, but he always sits in the back corner.
We should really focus on getting members of the Cowboys, Mavs, and Rangers at our games. You know, the whole "our city our team" thing

Great idea....give tickets to Cubes, Aikman, Prime, Dirk, GWB, Nolan Ryan, honor them, show them on the jumbo, make them visible on TV at the game!

And yes, next year's in game visuals/music and sounds/scoreboard/energy must be on point...we can really help ourselves by creating a fun and exciting atmosphere, that is professional and also keeps the traditional character our band provides...we can make this program big time baby

Ranger pitching coach Mike Maddox attended a few home games.

If a celebrity doesn't agree to show up, by all means, fill the seats with someone else.
Ponies will have to win a bunch of games before the A-listers start showing up, unless Deion shows up just to go to a game with his son.
