assuming the AAC has some stability and plays with 12 football and 11 bball (all sports) schools, I wonder how bball will be scheduled?
to build conference relationships, we could play everyone home/home with no divisions but that would mean 20 conference games and we would really have to "schedule up" in our non-conference schedules to boost RPI.
How would SMU schedule 10 non-conference games assuming we will have a team that will be able to compete with anyone?
I still like "local" games against TCU, Baylor and even UNT, but we need to schedule teams from the so-called "power conferences". How about A&M, Arkansas or Vandy from the SEC? Maybe Wake or Duke from the ACC? Maybe someone from the Big 10 - Illinois or Northwestern since we are recruiting Illinois kids? Big East? PAC 12? A-10? MVC? What about trying to keep UTEP on the schedule? I'd even be O.K. with Rice as another "local" but please no more Alcorn State or Paul Quinn or Hardin-Simmons.
I'm not sure UConn, Cincy, Memphis or Temple will like the idea of a 20 game conference schedule that would really limit what you can do in the non-conference.

I have lain awake thinking about this one myself.
I doubt we go with a six-team and five-team division, so I imagine it will be come combination of home-and-home and single-game to get to a total in the neighborhood of 16 conference games.
There really isn't a perfect way to do it with 11 teams, is there?

I'd like to see UTEP stay on the schedule. They actually bring fans which makes the game much more fun to me.

I thought I remembered BillSelf saying that Kansas was scheduling SMU?

I really hope we add one more full member (UMASS or Southern Miss) and then either add Army or drop Navy. Scheduling will be a mess with 11 teams in basketball.

I still say we add Wichita State for Bball and Olympic Sports. They bring good RPI in Bball and Baseball.

We don't need to make the non conference schedule overly tough. Schedule a few tough teams but not half the non conference schedule with them. Besides with all the new players next year they need time to gel. We need at least 10 or 12 wins going into a tough conference to have a chance at the NCAA tournament.

Coach Brown does not want to play any coaches that he has mentored except in the NCAA tournament.

This...some need to understand how schedules are put together. We need 6-10 gimmes at least

Why not have some gimmies against regional teams like UTA, UTSA, UNT (not really a gimmie), etc.

UTA would be the toughest of those you listed
