Ben Moore has good handles for a big man and 3 point range

Postby SMU 86 » Mon Jul 08, 2013 1:15 am

Just heard from someone who saw him play a few times. They said that he has good handles for a big man and actually won the team's 3 point contest at his school. They also said that he was very active and always goes after the rebound.

I've talked to his AAU people a bunch, and you're right, he can really handle, pass and and is aggressive on the glass. The issue is that he's a tweener, so he prefers facing, which is fine, so long as he can guard wings, which are often guards. The comparison I heard was a poor mans Tayshaun Prince

Sounds like a good player. He looked good in his videos when he had his back to the basket posting up. An athletic 6'8 player is a good addition to the team. Glad to have him.

in the Doh years, I would have been happy with a poor man's version of the artist formerly known as Prince.

Sterling Brown hoopin' against Jabari Parker.

Interesting comment about the game.

#1 Chicago Simeon (33-1) and #2 Proviso East (32-1) battled for the Illinois Class 4A state championship at Peoria's Carver Arena in the matchup that hoops fans had been anticipating all season. Proviso East's 6'5 junior Sterling Brown (brother of Suns' Shannon Brown) gave 6'8 Simeon junior star Jabari Parker all he could handle, but Parker's Simeon teammates were there to pick him up when it counted most. Parker scored 15 pts and senior Steve Taylor (Marquette) had 12 pts + 17 rebounds in Simeon's third straight Class 4A title with a 50-48 victory. Parker has one more than the Bulls' Derrick Rose with one season to go. The win gave Simeon their 6th state championship (IL record) and #5 for Simeon coach Robert Smith (IL record). This game was tied at the half. Sterling Brown scored 10 of his 25 pts in the 3rd quarter to give Proviso East a 39-34 lead with 8 minutes to play. But in the 4th, an 8-0 run gave Simeon a 45-41 lead with 3:05 left. Simeon extended the lead on a vicious dunk by Parker with 12 secs left before Brown hit a 3-pointer with seconds remaining.

The infusion of talent and depth we are going to get next season will be so much fun to watch.
Back off Warchild seriously.

deepest roster we've seen since the peak of the Bliss years. I expect nothing more than 40 minutes of intensity from this team as guys fight to earn minutes. We could be this year's surprise team (barring any eligibility issues).

I wish we weren't starting out in Garland as I fear slight crowds. Hope it doesn't get the team down. But man Moody will be rocking when the venue opens again. Can't wait.

I think that if the school markets it right we might find ourselves picking up fans over our time in Garland. It is a place a lot of Dallas is used to going for games. If we win, and have some decent competition I can see it being a major boom.
