SMU: Could the Mustangs earn their first NCAA tournament berth since 1993 one season after finishing 15-17? Enough help is on the way to make it a possibility. Illinois State transfer Nic Moore, who redshirted last season, was named to the Missouri Valley Conference all-freshman team in 2011-12. Signee Yanick Moreira was the top-ranked junior college big man in the nation, and incoming freshman Keith Frazier will become the first McDonald’s All-American ever to suit up for SMU, which also returns three double-digit scorers in Nick Russell, Jalen Jones and Ryan Manuel. If Hall of Fame coach Larry Brown gets this group to jell quickly, this could be the best season for Mustangs basketball in recent memory. SMU is also nearing completion on a renovation project of about $50 million to Moody Coliseum, which is scheduled to reopen in December. Re: ESPN: Who can challenge Louisville in American?I really hope this team reaches its potential and makes the NCAA tournament this season!
Re: ESPN: Who can challenge Louisville in American? These are exciting times, no question. We are going to see hoops like Dallas hasn't seen in a whole, certainly the 14 years I have been here.
Mustangs Abu!
Re: ESPN: Who can challenge Louisville in American?Great to see our name in the mix. Thanks for posting

Re: ESPN: Who can challenge Louisville in American?Actually a pretty solid hoops conference. Too bad lville is bolting. Will be fun to watch for a year
Re: ESPN: Who can challenge Louisville in American?Who else pops a boner at the thought of how good we're going to be in the seasons to come? Recruiting really is the foundation for success, and LB and team are absolutely killin' it. Not to mention LB is one of the greatest coaches of all time.
Re: ESPN: Who can challenge Louisville in American? This is exciting times for bball. Hard to believe the change in atmosphere around the bball team. As bad as football has been people at least talked about it. The bball board had been dead except for a couple of guys the last 5+ years. Now its a whole new ball game, so to speak.
I can't wait for the season to start. It's going to be fun no matter the outcome. We have a good team, are playing some good teams, have a great coach and staff and will have a great gym. I think the attendance will be there this year as well. We have come a long way in two years. We really lucked into this, but thank the good Lord we did. Re: ESPN: Who can challenge Louisville in American?
I'm concerned that our diamonds aren't in the rough enough. Some of them even hold offers from other schools!
Re: ESPN: Who can challenge Louisville in American? There ought to a macro out there somewhere that, once happy comments are detected, automatically posts a corresponding depresssing -- sorry, strike that -- "realistic" comment. As a bonus, you could add a smart as$ ellipsis at the end to imply total doom...
Example HAPPY COMMENT: "SMU just picked up a commitment from five star recruit Emmanuel Mudiay, who says he's bringing several four stars with him to SMU." MACRO: "Now maybe JJ can take some time from golfing in Sumatra to to get a few one stars with no BCS offers..." Viola, balance. No one is happy. We can all have sucky lives.
Re: ESPN: Who can challenge Louisville in American?Better yet, you should design a macro where everytime someone posts something that is realistic/non-sunshiner regarding June or the football team, it automatically posts something chastising them for being a terrible fan. It would free up 95% of the time you spend trying to keep the pep rally alive.
Re: ESPN: Who can challenge Louisville in American?
Reaching it's potential this season might mean an NIT spot realistically. I have no problem with an NIT spot. ![]() "We will play man to man and we will pick you up at the airport." - Larry Brown

A+ Peruna is my mascot!
Re: ESPN: Who can challenge Louisville in American?
A++ And an NIT bid this year would be outstanding and would show real progress. To go from having a losing record to the NIT in a year would be a big jump. The Tourney is obviously the goal, but we have to see how well these guys are all going to play together first BOP - Providing insensitivity training for a politically correct world since 1989.
