When do we Schedule Baylor or UT?Seems like we will quickly be able to play with these teams. It would be exciting to get a rivalry going with them, especially with Baylor. Any shot we get some out of conference games with either of them in the next year or so?
Re: When do we Schedule Baylor or UT?I think we could hang with UT already now. As for Baylor, I don't know. However, since UT seems to be on the decline and we are certainly on the rise, a high profile win against them could help our program for sure. I would like to have an intrastate rivalry with someone good (and that we beat regularly) other than UH. I say schedule UT, Baylor, TCU, and TT or a combination thereof. None of those teams scare me, especially if we keep this thing going. (I would especially love to beat up on TT consistently - they always smoked us while I was there - the early Dickey years when they had Jason Sasser/Darvin Ham, etc).
Re: When do we Schedule Baylor or UT?We should not be in a hurry to schedule anyone other than who we have now. We need to let this team have time to gel this year. It will be tough enough to get to the NCAA tournament as it is.

Re: When do we Schedule Baylor or UT?I'd like to see us schedule some "local" opponents but remember that non-conference scheduling is going to be important for the AAC as we seek to build credibility. Assuming SMU becomes an upper echelon team in this league, we are going to need to get some home/home deals with top 25 caliber programs. Baylor "kills two birds" being both a recognized bball program and "local". I assume we will continue to play TCU and I'd like to see us play UNT rather than Texas State or Paul Quinn. Would like to see a mix of games against other conferences but it remains to be seen how many conference games we will end up playing and how many non-conference games will be available each year. I assume as a 10 member conference we will play everyone twice for an 18 game conference schedule this year, which should give us a home game against Louisville. Once we become an 11 member conference for hoops, I'm not sure what we might see.
Re: When do we Schedule Baylor or UT?
AAC has credibility with 2 national champions in it in UConn and Louisville. Also Memphis,Temple, and Cincy make it strong. This in not football where you need to get a BCS win to make it to a BCS game. We post 20 or more wins in this conference and we are in whether we win the conference or not. This is a 5 or 6 bid conference imo. "We will play man to man and we will pick you up at the airport." - Larry Brown

Re: When do we Schedule Baylor or UT?i agree there is no need to stack our out of conference schedule, but TCU is soon to be to us what we are to them in football - so it would be great to have a real Big 12 rival in basketball. Baylor is certainly now a great program and would be great to see them on the schedule. Other than that, some doormats before we get into the ACC would be fine.
Re: When do we Schedule Baylor or UT?
We haven't really "dominated" TCU in hoops like they have us in football post SWC...... Peruna is my mascot!
Re: When do we Schedule Baylor or UT?
Gostangs isn't referring to where we've been in the past vs TCU but where we will "soon" be...can't imagine you'd argue with that
Re: When do we Schedule Baylor or UT?thus the phrase.."soon to be". I didn't think it was all that confusing.
Re: When do we Schedule Baylor or UT?
TCU Is building pretty fast themselves. Taking them for granted is silly. They have real talent coming in the next few years. Karvier hurts though
Re: When do we Schedule Baylor or UT?The only OOC games I know so far for the 2013-14 season are: The TCU game at AAC. The after Thanksgiving tournament in Corpus Christi with SMU, UVA, A&M, Missouri St. A road game at Wyoming just before Christmas. And, a home game on 12/7 with Hofstra. . . Hofstra just released their OOC schedule

Re: When do we Schedule Baylor or UT?
That's great for this coming season, but once Louisville leaves, we can't rely on UConn, Cincy, Memphis & Temple to carry the league and think we continue to be a 5-6 bid league. With some of the former CUSA schools that are coming in, we are all going to be challenged to schedule (and win) some non-conference games against quality opponents. SMU, Houston, UCF & USF in particular will need to step it up and it certainly appears we are headed in that direction. I'm not expecting a lot from ECU or Tulane and hard to say about Tulsa...but it looks like the makings of a pretty solid league going forward. If the bottom of our league is horrible, it will really kill the RPIs
Re: When do we Schedule Baylor or UT?Since the 2013 OOC games will be in Garland, probably not going to be much of a home OOC schedule for this year. Still will go to my share of games though
