Marketing to Dallas

I'm not in Dallas these days but I haven't seen any postings about bball marketing. We've got two very marketable people in the program that most Dallas area basketball fans know, well, LB and Keith Frazier. Season tix are cheap and this will be the most entertaining product SMU has put on the floor or field in over 25 years. I realize money is tight, but this truly something we should be promoting the hell out of, sooner than later.

Haven't seen any marketing for basketball not even at football game. However, it seems the SMU bb has been getting a lot of press from the Mudiay decision. With a new Moody, a team that can win and games against CT, Cin, Memphis, Louisville we should be sold out for every game. Hopefully ticket office is ready for the task.

That would be a first.

I was talking to a random guy at the pool this weekend who went to Arizona who's a huge college bball fan that just moved to Dallas. He had heard about Mudiay and when I mentioned that we were playing UConn, Louisville, Memphis, etc, he got really excited and said he would absolutely come out and see some games. He didn't care about how pretty new Moody would look, it was all about us having a quality team and playing quality opponents. Big time college basketball fans will come out if we win and our conference plays the way we all think it should. That said, he had no idea we were playing a schedule like that. We need to get it out there in some way. I know it's a ways off, so let's hope they eventually get there.

Side note - He said we should be glad Josiah Turner decided not to actually come here. He was complete mental case apparently

First game at AAC vs. TCU in about 2 months... not that far off.

Unless you experienced some wildly different situation than I did last Friday I think they can handle 8,000 people after the 32,000 or so they handled last week.

Agreed and we apparently missed out on our one golden opportunity, the Tech game.

It will be the last time Ford has anyone outside of diehard fans. What are they waiting for, the Temple homecoming game when 12,000 show up?

I don't understand why our athletic department doesn't create a competition or internship with our business school to come up with ideas to market the athletic teams. It'd be free and make it an honor to be selected. When I was a student we did this for Cadillac. It was a great experience and cheap marketing for the local Caddy dealership, or retailer as they wanted to be known. Think out of the box

I just don't understand why we don't do these things. In addition to great marketing students in Cox, the advertising dept has some of the nation's best art directors and copywriters.

I have heard the Ticket broadcast a commercial for the TCU game at AAC. The full schedule hasnt come out yet - but as most SMU anything you have to be in the know already...

Do we have any billboards around the city? TV or radio commercials airing? The season is little over a month away. This is going to be the most competitive team regardless of sport we've had in a LONG time. LB, Jalen and KF's mug should be all over the city.
