Saw a Few B-ball Players on Saturday

On the Boulevard on Saturday afternoon, I ran into and spoke with a few of the b-ball players, including Nic Moore, Shawn Williams and Markus Kennedy.

All 3 were great guys, and they all seemed very confident in the team's abilities.

I couldn't tell them enough times how excited the students/alums/casual fans were about this upcoming season.

Less than 2 weeks!

Go Ponies.

None of the guys were sure who would start the first game, but they were fairly certain that Nic, Markus and Yanick would start.

I think it will be more about minutes than starts.

Good bunch of dudes. I have enjoyed talking to a few as well. They seem like a tight knit grp

if you have seen a Larry Brown practice, you know why they are close knit. They are in a common foxhole.

Gostangs, have you been to one (not trying to be funny)? Just wanted to ask what you thought of the forwards.

It is a pleasure to watch LB run a practice. He teaches and does it without talking down to the guys. But he will also call someone out if they deserve it. Also, it is very obvious that everyone has the ultimate respect for him. There's a very good reason he's been successful as he's been, and the players and assistants get that.

Sorry, 86, I know that had nothing to do with your question about the forwards but I recommend any true fan to try to get asked to a practice. It's very cool to witness.

How do you go about doing that?

Just guessing! Probably would involve an e-mail to Larry Brown or somebody on Larry's staff. . . Not trying to make it an antagonistic comment. 8)

I've seen one practice and gotta say that super sensitive players might get a little shell shocked by LB. He absolutely had everyone's attention and respect and got a little emotional anytime people made mental mistakes, especially if the mistake had just been made. Fortunately, he'd hug the guys later on to let them know it wasn't personal but make no mistake, there was one general out there and a bunch of soldiers

He told me that I can come to any practice they do in Moody, but I have to go sit up at the top so I can't hear him yelling haha.
