Ben Moore? Brown? I think Sterling is super talented and was underrated by recruiting services, but we are loaded at the guard spot this year.

If a freshman isn't good enough to challenge for minutes this year, I'm guessing Larry Brown will probably be glad for his eligibility to run out as soon as possible since he'll want the space for incoming kids that should, if the plans continues to come together, be top 50ish kids (or top 5 and their brothers

)

That is incorrect information. He was not underrated. He was a 4 star recruit, top 150 player, and a Finalist for Illinois Mr Basketball.

There will be no redshirts this year imo. We will need everyone.

Unless someone gets injured, I don't see it happening.

I don't think they really think they use red shirts in basketball the same way they do in football.

If we had a really loaded team like Louisville did last year them we could probably redshirt the last 2 maybe even 3 on the bench if they are really high caliber players but can't make the first or second string, But that is not the case yet. Louisville starting center this yea redshirted last year.

For the record, the decision to redshirt isn't made at the beginning of the year. A redshirt is applied to a player at the end of the year. I forget the actual guidelines for basketball, but it's something like they can't play in more than 30% of the games and no conference if I'm not mistaken. Aka, any time played must be first half of the year. It's also not a common practice to redshirt players in basketball unless they are projects. I would presume nobody redshirts from the incoming freshman class, just my two cents.

no that's what is commonly referred to as a "medical redshirt" resulting from injury. Count number of games multiply by .30 and round up. A "redshirt" is lost if you get into a single game.

I thought it was 20% not 30%.
