It was well attended. 20 or so tables full of alumni there. I sat next to a reporter for USA Today that was covering the event/writing an article about the team. Talked some college bball with him.

Crowd was in good spirits. Both coaches talked about the higher competition that will occur in the new conference.

Coach Brown said that its hard to coach the team when they all think they are one and done's (Joking).

Said that he is trying to improve the schedule. Looks like we will play NC State next season. Said he is working on Kentucky and that we will see if that pans out.

Said that Shawn Williams would be a starter (not sure if that was just coach speak or something).

Other than that I can't remember anything said of note.

Kentucky vs SMU would almost be an instant rivalry with the bitter feud over Mudiay that happened between the fan bases.

Great turnaround story, recruiting really well, should be a lot better this season, will be at Moody for more than a few games.

I don't think Williams starting is far fetched, especially if J. Jones still plays a little out of control. Again, starting the game is in name only. Guys are going to get minutes:

PG N. Moore
SG N. Russell
SF S. Williams
PF M. Kennedy
C Y. Moriera

I didn´t watch as much hoops as I would have liked last year, but I was thinking Jalen would start over Williams. He played out of position last year and was our leading scorer and rebounder with 50.6% FG Pct.

THIS!!! If we were to play Kentucky close (and dare I say it?...not yet) it would be another huge step forward. I know Larry can succeed while he is here, but I am hopeful that he can put the program on a path where it can succeed after he leaves.

Actually what I think LB was saying with Williams and the others there, is that he does all the right things and has the right attitude to start. He said he didn't know who going to start.

Now I think him saying he doesn't know who is going to start is really coach speak. I am sure he has some idea.

Talked also how we have a lot to offer to get the top kids in. A good school, good facilities, a good conference and schedule. He said every HS kid and coach knows and respects SMU when our guys walk into their gym.

The great part was he would guarantee a record but said they would work hard to make the school proud and be exciting to watch.

He has a real good dead pan humor too. Coach Rompola did a good job speaking as well.

UK-SMU would be great, especially if it happens when Mudiay is around. Not sure I would venture up to Rupp Arena as the bashing that Mudiay received from them only reminds me of Ohio St fans. Pure white trash and nothing else.

BBN loves their Cats and yes they are the epitome of trash. If we did play at Rupp, I would do my best to make the trip up there.

UK fans overreact at anything negative said about their team, but there is no denying that they are an extremely knowledgeable fanbase, if not the most knowledgeable in the country.
