New rules

So I keep hearing about the new rules going into effect this year. Apparently just putting a hand on a player is going to be a foul. Officials say they are going to call it very tight early on. Games will take 3 hours and free throws are going to loom big. Supposedly zone defense is going to be the preference, but we know Brown's thoughts on that.
Also the charging definition has changed to where many past charges will now be blocking fouls.
Glad we have depth and hope we can shoot FTs.

That sounds terrible. They trying to make games more TV friendly (higher scoring, longer games, more stoppage)?

Just like football they are saying basketball is getting too physical and they want it to stop.
Arkansas and UALR have both had officials calling fouls at about half of their practices and say that it is very difficult to change from the way they have played in the past.
I guess the avid BB followers know all about this but I am just hearing about it over the past couple of weeks and it sounds like it could be rough on teams playing man on man.

Colleges could also have a lot of players in foul trouble during the game if they don't adjust quickly.

Sounds dumb. I enjoy two hour games and less free throws.

The sports "experts" here say the new hands off rule will probably be dropped next year when they see how it extends the game and makes it just a free throw contest.

I'm glad they did not do this last year.
