Houston may be without Knowles again this year

From a knowledgable UH poster on the AAC boards:
http://csnbbs.com/showthread.php?tid=658899Cougar fans will have to wait longer to see ballyhooed 6-10 SF recruit Chicken Knowles in action.
Knowles was a National Top 50 recruit in the class of 2012. He did not qualify last year, and went to UH-Downtown to get his grades in order.
He transferred in to UH-Main Campus this year. But because UH-Downtown is its own, separate, independent 4-year college, the NCAA has determined that Chicken is a transfer, and must sit out a year under the transfer rules.
UH is appealing on the basis that UH-Downtown does not have a basketball team. Chicken will not play in tonight's exhibition game.

Hell we have not had a basketball team for many years and our transfers had to sit.

I believe players have been able to go to UH-D for a year in the past.
Wish SMU played an exhibition game this year...

Just heard the newest update on Chicken. The Texas UIL will have a ruling about Chicken's age eligibility requirements on May 1, 2014.

You either get to play exhibition games or scrimmages. The scrimmages are superior because we get to play against good teams, even if they are "secret"

Had he gone to a junior college instead of UH-Downtown, he wouldn't have had an issue. Whoever told him to go to UH-Downtown should be fired.

You're right, CalallenStang. I feel bad for the kid. He's a talented player.

I don't think his shift at the sewage plant ends until 3:00- we'll probably hear from him then.

Exactly, and the REASON he didn't go to JUCO was because he would have sit out 2 years and would need to graduate with the new, significantly tougher 2.5 GPA requirements
