Band Last Night

I love the band, but they did not help their case last night.

First they showed up late, well after the majority of the students and took the seats in front of us. Then turned around and told us to be quite when we were cheering and did not participate in our cheers. Then played some really awful music.

Come on band step it up and be friends with the student body instead of stuck up [deleted].

I heard their bus was late picking them up, that's why they were late arriving to the game.

Fair enough, but that doesn't explain their hostility towards us.

I'm going to admit it did sound a bit sloppy last night. Bus being late is unfortunate but the person with me commented how much tighter the sound was coming from the Baylor band in comparison.

Granted though it was their first game of basketball season. It will get better over next few games as they get more rehearsals in.

It was Baylors first game also, and they sounded good. It was not a great night for the band.

The major problem with the band last night - as far as the actual playing - was the set player was apparently not prepared.

With no solid beat the band was extremely loose and sounded terrible.

You don't just walk in when you have been playing at football with a billion drums and instantly convert to using a set. I will assume it was lack of practice and not lack of ability.

No comment on other problems with the band (asking SMU fans to be quiet, dancing, etc.).

I did hear the piccolo though!

If you are anti-dancing, you must be a Baylor fan

Our band was a complete dud compared to baylor's. Of course, tcu' band will always suck with those stupid wind instruments.

There was a black kid and his dad in front of me at the game (kid plays for duncanville basketball). Anyways he looks and in disbelief says, "they're singing peanut butter and jelly". I paused a second and said, "I have no choice here. This is a white people moment. " We all shared a good laugh.

I've heard plenty of people tell lies about the band. I wasn't there but I was in the band at an away game where a guy said he had to duck a trombone the whole game. I knew it was a lie, having been there and there were no fans in the middle of the cramped band stands area. I can't explain the basketball game stuff but I'm putting it out there that people can, have, and will lie.

I highly doubt it. I know the back rows(Tubas, trombones) personally and they wouldn't say that.

In all fairness he wrote they told him to be "quite." Maybe they told him to be quite honest or something- to tell TCU how he really feels about their awful colors.
