Emmanuel Mudiay Comparison

Postby StandUp » Mon Dec 02, 2013 6:21 pm

If you don't know about our signing of Emmanuel Mudiay maybe you have been hiding under a rock, been in a coma, or been on a long vacation around the world :) Big things are happening on the Hilltop. Hands down the best player to ever sign with SMU! A 6'5" Point Guard who can do it all! If you are looking for something to get excited about look up his highlight videos on youtube.com

A lineup of Nic Moore, Emmanuel Mudiay, Keith Frazier, Yanic Moreina, Myles Turner or Markus Kennedy could be something pretty special. That is a Starting 5 that can compete with almost anyone! We are building a program to play with the big boys. Can't wait!

For anyone who has seen Emmanuel Mudiay play in person...

Does anyone have any College Comparisons for Emmanuel Mudiay (past or present, other than SMU Players)?
Examples:
Kyrie Irving (Duke)
Anfrenee Hardaway (Memphis)
Jason Kidd (California)
Ben McLemore (Kansas)
Austin Rivers (Duke)

Does anyone have any NBA Comparisons for Emmanuel Mudiay?
Examples:
Kyrie Irving (Cleveland Cavs)
Anfrenee Hardaway (Orlando Magic)
Jason Kidd (Dallas Mavericks)
Ben McLemore (Sacramento Kings)
Austin Rivers (New Orleans Pelicans)

Done

NBA Comparison: Penny Hardaway

Strengths: A true point guard, knows how to run a team, great size and will probably grow more, father is 6'10" and has an older brother who is 6'7" ... Silky smooth, shoots the ball well out to college three, great passer and playmaker, high IQ, very athletic, can get in the lane at will, mature body that will fill out ... Long arms, quick feet, shows a desire to defend, wreaks havoc in the passing lanes, excels most in the open floor where he can use his creativity for himself or teammates ... Often has the advantage in the open floor when numbers are not in his favor, has the ability to make people better, makes the right play, has great flair in is game, great kid, comes from a grounded family, very competitive, great upside because of versatility, very good handle, natural talent and feel are off the charts

Weaknesses: Doesn't shoot as well off the dribble as he does spotting up, handle is very good but needs to tighten up some, effort inconsistent, plays down to level of competition, at times tried to do too much, defers to upperclassmen sometimes, has a mean streak but has to be challenged for it to come out, coasts at times and takes plays off, jumpshot needs to be more consistent, needs to be more assertive and more vocal

Overall: Mudiay is a special talent that simply doesn't come along very often possibly the best 2014 prospect. He's a full year younger than Canadian phenom Andrew Wiggins. Has been compared to Tyreke Evans, but is more talented. Great upside. Playmaker who can score and make others better. The sky is the limit if he is willing to work. Has the natural talent and feel for the game that can make him the # 1 player in the country by the time he's a senior. With continued development looking at a top 5 pick and franchise player at the highest level.

So instead of polls, you've moved onto making a bunch of comparison threads?

I say going forward that you just put all of your comparison/polls into one thread. Keeps everything nice and tidy.

@blackoutpony and @Harry0569

With all due respect it doesn't seem like I can do anything right in your eyes. That is ok. "My posts are too long". "You should combine threads to one thread". "You are a fake poster (posing as someone else)". "You should use google to look up stats", etc., etc.

Message Boards are meant to generate discussions. Message Boards are meant to be entertaining to read. I guess you can't make everyone happy. Maybe the sky is always falling in your world. I don't know. Why you care about what I post or how I post is again beyond me. I have a total of 2, count them 2 "comparison" threads. Too many? I already admitted to my rookie mistake with all the polls that I posted over the weekend. Is this how you welcome a fellow alum to ponyfans.com?

You both are definitely entitled to your opinions, but this is getting a little ridiculous. Telling me how to post. Maybe I am reading too much into it. Maybe you have too much time on your hands. Maybe you think your way is the only way. Either way it really does not add much value to ponyfans.com and discussions about our teams. My apologies to you both for not doing everything the way you want. You be you and I will be me. I sincerely look forward to reading any threads that you feel add value to ponyfans.com

If you have any value to add to the discussion please make a post on any of my threads. I want to hear your opinion. Example, who do you think might be a good comparison for Emmanuel Mudiay's game? Otherwise please please keep your opinion to yourself.

Let's make a deal. If I do not have anything of value to add to your threads, I will not post anything on your threads. If you do not have anything of value to add to any of my threads, you will not post anything on your threads. Everyone is happy? Again with all due respect. Pony Up!

We don't know you as a poster, so being "excessive" is all we have to go off of right now as your traits. If that's who you want be, that's your call, but I agree with hoopmanx; you gotta learn to dribble before you start throwing up half court lobs for windmill dunks

Thanks @DukeBlueBlood. I agree. Fans are definitely hard to come by. Hoping that Larry Brown is turning that around. Let's get this thread back on topic...

For anyone who has seen Emmanuel Mudiay play in person...Any NBA or College comparison's for Mudiay's Game?

I have never seen Mudiay play in person, but from watching highlight videos and reading scouting reports online, I am guessing that he is probably a taller version of Kyrie Irving...The 2014 version of maybe Anfrenee Hardaway meets Kyrie Irving... a true point guard, a leader, quick first step, mad handles, sick vision, good from distance, ability to attack the rim.

Anyone else have any good NBA or College comparisons?

Except when it directly makes your point.

Standup keep it short to start the discussion then when folks chime in, hit em with the rest of your thoughts.
