The NCAA tournament. Basically, right now we're on the popped part of the bubble.
But really, tourney predictions at this point in the season is just a stupid waste of time and energy. But it gives Joe Lunardi something to do the other 10 months of the year besides February and March.

It is meaningless but fun if you're in the discussion. Just like the college football polls after week two of the season, it'll likely be completely different in two months.

I'm in the "I'm honored just to be nominated" camp...
seriously, when was the last time Lunardi EVER mentioned SMU? Sasser/Willie Davis days?

Probably so, but that was pre twitter so this is probably the first time since the SWC days we're in the discussion for an at-large bid, albeit very early.

Pretty cool to see.
Remember when we scored 28 points against UAB? Seems like ages ago now.

And lost to schools you've never heard of like SC Upstate?
I still cringe whenever I see one of their scores on the ticker.

Ridiculous post; however, it is great to get some recognition/consideration.

Just happy that national writers know we have a basketball team and give us consideration. 2 years ago some people didn't even know we had a team still

THIS.
I know it's EXTREMELY EARLY, but I couldn't pass up posting something a national writer posted about us.

This isn't based on anything really. But I'm thinking that if we are on the bubble, we will get in because of LB. ESPN and other media companies control those kind of things (admit it or not) and I have got to believe that a team lead by LB a HOF coach who means something to a lot of different people, would draw significantly more viewers and excitement then some random no name team.
