Don't see why doh would play them there a few years ago without a return.
By the way, Illinois always looks for opponents to play at the united center once a year.
We should schedule the illini next somehow, I keep up with them and

Basketball scheduling is a bit different than football with that regard. Typically top teams do the home and home deal but Northwestern probably viewed SMU as a schedule filler a few years back, therefore didn't return the home game. That would be my guess. I have no idea of the situation but that's my best guess.
