I'm not a big fan of throwing around "the greatest" when it comes to anything bball but in my 30+ years of watching basketball I've never seen anyone who shoots long range as well as Steph Curry. He is unbelievable.

As much as I disliked him, Larry Bird used to be the standard. Then it was Glen Rice and Reggie Miller and Ray Allen. But you're right — Curry's shot is as smooth as anyone's, and is a lot stronger than he looks, giving him range well beyond the arc and the endurance to hit them at the end of the game, not just the start.

ESPN radio broached this subject on talk radio this past week. Antidote coming from the show was that Larry Bird several weeks back was allegedly in street clothes walking through a gym and hit 15 straight from the 3 point line before moving on to a meeting.

Pete Maravich scored 44 pts/game over his college career with no 3 pt line. It would be interesting to see what he could have done with that in play. I think he shot around 45% from the floor.

Just depends on how old you are & who you saw. . . Larry Bird & Dirk Nowitzki proved that somebody over 6'5 could be a deadly shooter. Pete Maravich was a pure shooter, until injuries cut his career way too short. Hell, even Vinnie Johnson was called the "microwave" for a reason. Rolando Blackman had a sweet outside jumper. . . And the list goes on, and on.

Pistol Pete's droopy socks.
Muhammad Ali's tassels on his boxing shoes.
Dr J's afro hair style.

Not according to the numbers.
Steph Curry - currently 2nd in NBA history in 3 point% (44.5%)
Larry Bird - 111th in NBA history in 3 point% (37.5%)
I won't argue that Bird was about as clutch a shooter as there's been, but Curry has shown the ability to be clutch as well. He's got a ways to go and I'm not saying he's the player Bird was but based on pure stroke, Curry's about as good as I've seen.

Lee Harvey Oswald: According to Jim Garrison, even the army's best snipers could not make that shot through a tree three times in a row.
Oh, you mean basketball. Then, hands down: Chad Elsey.
