LB So Gets It

Postby max the wonder dog » Thu Dec 19, 2013 8:58 am

First question in his postgame interview was about playing in Garland:

"We knew it would be difficult, but when you look at what Moody has meant to SMU and what it is like now, this is a small price to pay. . . . People were great here. The next time I come back here I want to see a great high school game and hopefully some of these players will think about coming to SMU and playing in Moody."

In less than 30 seconds he honored SMU's heritage, gave a shout out to the Culwell Center staff, and talked about recruiting Dallas area kids to play at SMU. All class, all the time.

He's just so saavy and committed...I've always thought JJ brought some good things to the table but I've always had a problem with his poor commitment and hubris (hubris is fine if it's backed up - if you think you can find enough diamonds in the rough to compete with Big 12 teams, you're delusional).

LB seems to get everything. We need to reward it with loyalty and the tools to make him a success. Let's make Moody Dallas' version of Cameron.

reward him by showing up. Sometimes I see him look around pre-game at the crowd and know he's got to be disappointed. Let's fill Moody-every game. I think that's what he needs to be happy

June refused to say anything to the media last night????!!!

That goes down as one of the most ridiculous and tell-talingly unconstructive posts ever on here. LB says something at a BBall news conference and JJ is attacked for being silent. At another sports news conference. Which he didn't attend.

What did the soccer coach say?

Volleyball?

Swimming? - oh yeah, they need a natatorium. :)

Exactly - lets fill that place and make it loud. He is ready for a home court advantage - hasn't gotten one yet from us.

I agree with Stallion.

Reward him by showing up. I believe he will stay with SMU as long as he sees the respect reciprocated. If he sees the fan base turn out and show energy at games he will stay.
If we don't show up except at " big" games then he will conclude that the fans are coming to watch the other team and not his. No respect.

....and he won't be able to recruit like he has. Its one thing to sell hope and promise in Years 1-3 and another to sell apathy in Years 3-6.

I think we need to get blow up dolls, dress them in SMU gear and put them in the obstructed seats.

Except June was at the game, standing in the tunnel next to three SMU officials...if he is signing an extension, he could have announced it at half-time...probably wouldn't like the reception. Did he even speak to the team at half-time? If not, what was the freaking point of standing there and having three guys give you a hand job. Sit down and watch the game, and let everyone else sit and watch the game.

Except June has openly criticized fans on the radio after games. No matter the crowd size, LB goes out of his way to praise the fans. Guess what the SMU fans like LB more than June, wonder why.
