A&M is really bad. If it is playing time he wants, then he is going to the right spot. Wont make much difference for him long term. He blew a chance to play for the only guy that could have gotten him some looks in the NBA.

If he plays well the NBA will know where he is. They do have scouts that look at SEC basketball games believe it or not. Looking forward to seeing what he and ARob do together.

Wrong. People in the nba are going to think "this kid passed up a chance to play for Larry brown because he didn't get guaranteed PT to go play for...bill Kennedy. Have fun selling insurance kid"

None of that matters, he's a 6'7 pf at best. No nba for you. Either way, it's the way he left that rubs me wrong.

He may or may not get a chance, no one knows for sure. And you don't know what people will be thinking by then time he graduates. All you are doing is giving your opinion. We'll just see what happens and in the mean time I wish him well and have no ill feeling towards the young man nor do I wish him any ill will.

That's cuz he's your kin smu86.
I think it was CS of Jalen to wait until the week before the first game to announce he was leaving. He was told by LB that he couldn't guarantee his playing time early in the summer the same time Brian Bernardi was told the same thing. At least Brian manned up and made a decision quickly to transfer and allowed SMU a scholarship to open up which gave us Mudia's brother John Michael....which could have very well been the very catalyst for the SMU commitment by Emmanual.
Who knows that if Jalen had of made the same timely decision in the summer instead of the week before SMU's first game, we could have had a late JC add which could have helped the team instead of having an empty chair for the season.

I have a soft spot for him. Hope he does well, though I am very disappointed how he handled the transfer. Wish he had handled things differently.

Question. I take it he has to sit out a year. Does the click start from when he declares or when he starts at the new school. In other words. Would he be able to play fall if 2014 or will he have to wait until Jan 2015?

Bad timing and I wish he had handled it better as well. No reason to hate the young man. I believe aTm will file a waiver to see if he can play immediately. If not then he will probably be eligible next January.

I see no justification for a waiver. He left on his own. Should be eligible for all of next year since he will not play this year.

Hes a nice kid and have no problem with him personally and don't hate him, I just thought he should have thought about doing his transfer sooner which would have given SMU options instead of a 14 man roster and an empty chair.
