RPI/tourney Question?

After UH beat Uconn, I got to wondering if that hurt/helped SMU's chances of making the tournament.
At this point in the season, does it matter who beats who in conference play?
1) all OOC games have been played
2) the overall record for the conference going forward will be .500 as there will be 1 winner and 1 loser in every game
3) While some teams will move up and some will move down, the overall strength of schedule won't change? Will it?
Assuming that SMU needs 1(x) more wins to qualify, does it matter which teams we beat along the way? Do we need the conference stars to win their games against weaker conference foes?

We just need to get to 20 or more wins and the rest will take care of itself imo.

Just win....losing to Cinci doesn't help any chances of any tourney.

Conference schedule makers didn't do us any favors with our first 3 games. Hopefully we don't have to dig out of an 0-3 hole.

It's like fantasy football for college hoops fans who otherwise don't watch every possession. Enjoy the games, folks, not the computer indexes

Probably hurts if you're keeping score. Ideally you would want UConn and Louisville to be very strong, Cinci or Memphis as well so that you have true "quality wins" that the committee can't ignore. That also goes under the assumption that you beat them. Without winning at least 3 times against those 4 teams, it's going to be an uphill battle because those are really the only teams that have a chance at making the tourney in the conference and quality wins to point to at the end of the day.
