Crowd with free throws down the stretch

So quiet when we were taking free throws...so loud as soon as they went in.

I realize that this happens at most big basketball programs but given all we know about SMU fans (not the most hoops-knowledgeable and definitely not the most knowledgeable in how to be fans), I hardly expected it. And it was magical when it happened.

It was pretty awesome. Finally our boys have a home court advantage.

Good observation, CalallenStang. We truly provided a home court advantage yesterday. That said, we've got to start shooting FTs better. We missed a couple front ends of one-and-ones while UConn was money from the line. That will eventually cost a game unless we improve.

While I agree that we definitely need to improve our free throw shooting I think it was actually not awful on Saturday. I was remarking to my friends who I brought to the game who weren't SMU fans how terrible we've been all season at the line and my friend looked up at the scoreboard and we were 13/17 or something like that at that point. I agree we missed the front end of some one-and-ones which sucks but on the bright side, Markus Kennedy stepped up and made his free throws to seal the game a couple times. It seems like UCONN had done their scouting and had seen how Markus was a sub 50% free throw shooter on the season so the went with a 'hack-a-Markus' strategy at the end of the game but he swished 2/2 free throws twice to seal it. I hope this can give Markus some confidence at the line going forward, because the way he plays he'll certainly be getting to the line a lot in conference play.

FT's were what kept UConn in the game and prevented a big blowout.

I think Marcus is going to be fine at FT. He's up to 59% after he couldn't hit the side of the barn at the start of the year. At Nova what he was like 1-19. Everything changed after one of those preseason games where he hit something like 6-7 FTs. Since then he has been much better with technique and rotation. He actually looks confident up there now

I agree. He missed many in the first game or 2 and I would bet has been around 75-80% since then. I actually felt pretty good when they were choosing him to foul.
