Why cant we get ESPN to refer to us as SMU instead of southern Methodist? Spelling it out just sounds too po-dunk. PLEEEEASE SID send them some sort of legal letter requesting (demanding) the change. That goes for Fox and CBS also.

And nary a vote from the coaches. Wtf?? Where is the LB love?

UCF still really struggles w this as central florida...they, as an institution, have been trying for years to get networks and publications to refer to them as ucf w little sucess

Southern Miss is getting votes in the coaches and not the AP. Their record is similar to ours. Wonder if there is any confusion?

Our SID should be sending them an email EVERY time this happens - and if that is every day than that's fine - and asking them to change it. If that doesn't work start send emails to the board of Disney who owns ESPN until they get so tired of us they change it. We have to advance our brand - and cant do it as "southern Methodist"

Or 'south meth' in some instances.

Seems like TCU has successfully distanced from Texas Christian. I'm just curious if they made a conscious effort on their way up to clarify their preference or if it came with being recognized nationally as a good football program. I'm guessing they pushed for the change and there's no reason we can't do the same as the national publicity grows with this team.

They pushed for it. We do too, but in a passive manner (throwing a line in the media guide)

I don't understand why we don't do this. It shouldn't be hard to get changed. Just a little effort.
