I wasn't aware of this, but sounds interesting. Making headlines.
http://extramustard.si.com/2014/01/15/s ... e-tickets/Southern Methodist University has come up with a new way to get fans excited about its basketball team’s undefeated streak at home this season: It’s offering a $30 “Let It Ride†ticket that is good for every game until the Mustangs (11-4) lose at home, according to CBSSports.com.
SMU takes on South Florida at home tonight, in the first game of the promotion, and it’s not unreasonable to think that the Ride could extend all the way until the team faces reigning national champion Louisville in their home finale on March 5. The Larry Brown-coached Mustangs are attempting to make it into the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 1993.

Funny, they change the name for Win and extend, which I posted on, to Let It Ride. I guess they saw all the "ExtenZe" jokes being posted and decided to make the name a little less of an opportunity to joke about.

its a great promotion-they are confident that if they can get SMU fans into the arena the product will sell itself in the future. Kudos to the AD or whoever came up with it. SMU Football is a strong home team but product rarely sells itself nor creates new fans. Hint: its the talent on the Court

Like 201A or something, Eric Wallis came up with it in the ticket office. Cool dude.

In ~60 days, SMU will potentially play 4 ranked teams at Moody. If we win all 4 (we already are 1-0), none will be considered that big an upset, maybe not even an upset at all. Every game should be competitive.
In almost 30 years, our FB has defeated only 1 ranked team at Ford/Ownby? (TCU during the PB years). Good Luck trying to sell that turd of a product to Dallas.

The Let it Ride was talked about and praised by the pregame announcers on ESPNU. Not only did they talk about the innovative thinking, but they said even if SMU loses, with the atmosphere in Moody and ability of the team that the patrons of the special deal will most likely buy a new ticket for the next game.

I'm usually the first one to point out the negatives wrt to SMU admin/AD office - so I should give kudos when they get something right.
This is a great idea, selling a wonderful product to the entire city of Dallas. Nice job SMU!

To be fair, how many ranked teams has SMU hosted in football? They are lucky to have one a season, much less four in two months.

You know, I don't have any empirical evidence to support this, but there's been so much love and recognition and ASSISTANCE from TV - like ESPN openly talking about the ticket offering during the half time show of the broadcast last night - that it's more than just we're a better team. It seems like there's direct assistance from TV to aid and promote tangibly a product/school it has an interest in promoting. Combined with the 2 hour love-fest about SMU and Moody, it seemed like ESPN was screaming "come watch them! come watch them! they're on our network and they're the next big thing!"
Might be way off, but it was something I certainly have never seen before, even when we've done promos, etc.

TV won't promote or get behind a sucky product.
We have always been a sleeping giant - and now we finally have a product worth promoting on TV and locally around town.
These aren't coincidences.
Thank you LB.
