Their "president" got on their fans and students about their horrible attendance today:

UH is averaging 3,128 per home game this season, which ranks last among the 10 teams in the American Athletic Conference.

And if you've seen any of their conference games on TV there's nowhere near 3,000 in attendance. Even against UConn it looked like there may have been 1,500 at the game.

Hasnt UH always had an attendance problem in all sports? I'm not knocking them, but if the football team wasn't winning, their attendance might look like ours (or the equivalent given there student body size) even with an on-campus stadium.

They are the UNT of South Texas. Large commuter school of kids that didn't get in somewhere else. Their attendance in all sports is nothing to be proud about considering they have almost 40K students.

With so many Cougar High grads living in Huntsville, it is hard for their fans to make games.

Apparently their fans "could care less". Sweet mother of all things good and pure, how does a NEWSPAPER allow that mistake to creep in?

Ask yourself this question: Would you honestly want to be anywhere near UH at night? That's probably half the reason their attendance struggles.
