How to Make Moody Better for SMU Fans

I have three ideas that I hope that SMU athletics adopts for Moody:

1. SMU needs to address the problem of the no shows to basketball games. I think that since we are capping the free students tickets at 750, we should make a line of students outside of moody. First come, first serve type deal. After the second time out, the students in line can fill in all the empty seats.

2. SMU nees to address the problems of empty suites at the games. How about allowing faculty, professional/graduate students, or recent alums to use them when they aren't being used.

3. Allow Miller Event Center to become more inclusive. While I understand that people in premium seating should use it before games and at halftime, how about allowing students and their guests to experience the Event Center during away games. Imagine if the Event Center became a sports bar type of environment during away games, so that we could cheer on our team. The Event Center could also be used for football away games, to keep SMU fans interested in SMU sports.

The biggest problem is the red seats. I wish we'd tear 'em out and insert actual basketball fans.

Pretty easy red seat solution- send a letter and email all owners of red seats with a plan to redistribute all seats they do not plan to use. They could sell theirs back to the athletic department which could turn around and sell them to general public. problem solved.

Suites can be donated back to the school if they are not being used. This goes for all seats. I would encourage ponyfans to contact the ticket office if they can't use their seats. I have handed my seats over to the school in the past when I couldn't fill them (I travel almost every week and struggle attending some weekday games.)

I've noticed the same small suite vacant 2 games in a row. The huge corner ones as well. That is pathetic if you own a suite and can't even distribute tix

Aren't the huge corner suites "event suites". I don't think a season ticket holder has them I think they are for people planning parties and corporate events.

Someone tweeted Rick Hart about that and he is working on it.

“@ryanfoster365: @AD_RickHart Just a suggestion, but if red seats are empty, let others move down. Thx!” Have some ideas to introduce. Thx!

I bet a lot of the red seats have had those seats for 20 years, probably don't even remember they have them most of the time.

one corner suite is currently for presidential entertainment - (Turner, not Bush) - and the other is for rent for corporate users. that's what I have heard at least....

i would be pretty upset if I showed up after the second timeout and lost my seat. given that i work in plano, it's almost impossible to make it by game time during the week.

but i will concede that the empty seats are an issue.

They the president of this university isn't using his resources wisely if that suite is EVER empty during a game. I could fill that thing in 15 minutes.

They might fill them with students as temporary seat holders until the actual seat holders arrive for the game. That way everyone is in good shape.
