Cheerleaders need to step it up

Ok so one thing I noticed at the game last night is that several times, different student sections started different chants and/or the cheerleaders were doing something completely different. Super armature hour

The founding purpose of cheerleaders is to lead the fans in cheers. Should't be hard to get some signs that say defense or SMU or get a Red-Blue chant going. THe fans are there and engage give them some guidance for coordination.

The cheerleaders IMO are too quiet to get the whole stadium chanting without huge signs just because their is not that many of them... Our PA announcer should do the same thing that the Mav's PA announcer does. Starts De-Fense chants and "Let's go Mav's" chants with it pictured on the jumbo tron and everyone follows suit... Replace that with "let's go stangs" and you have all of Moody chanting the same thing in two seconds. Those who have been to a Mavs game knows that it works perfectly.

seems like they are adjusting to the new video/audio advancements-need to redefine their mission in the new environment. But I noticed too they seem kind of lost out there except for tumbling

They also have basketball-only cheers that are fast and hard to hear...

Is it "d-d-d-defend" or "d-d-d-defense"...no idea.
Then there is something fast like "score-stangs-score"...I think.
We have no idea what tempo to chant "defense" at...the speed accelerates until it is hard to breathe.

Need to keep it simple, predictable and video-board it. Loud, not fancy.

Let's be blunt - they suck. Half the time, the girls don't even say anything when they are doing their "cheers"..........Let them go do the tumble and jump thing at their competitions and let's get some real "cheerleaders".........

Yes to using the scoreboards, no to a cheerleading PA guy

SID needs to get cheers on the big screen to tell the crowd what to do and when to do it. We need SEE AND SAY so it is in unison.

D-FENSE
S-M-U

EDIT: what they said.

Seriously, all we really need are "S-M-U", "DE-FENSE", and a generic "NOISE" screen to get through a basketball game.

Lose all of the cheers. Nobody does them anyway.

need to "red / blue" or Go / Mustangs going on both sides - not that hard... just need 2 signs. our cheerleaders have always kind of sucked. If the Mob and they would meet for cheers - might make sense. just take notes from Duke or any other school

Yep, cheer squad needs to coordinate the crowd. Should be simple task. Problem is they've probably never been taught to do this. Essentially they are good gymnasts and learn their routines. I think the crowd would respond and take their lead to real cheers. However, someone has to step up on the squad and coordinate.

The PA announcer should not be our cheer leader!

Actually like the red & blue chant. . . Half of Moody chanting red, and the other half chanting blue

It's kinda interesting. The two groups who have made any kind of noise on a consistent level - cheer & band - have gotten swallowed up now that we actually have a good crowd/student support.
Up to them to make themselves relevant.

Let's dump the cheerleaders and get really hot Mavs dancers types.
