He answered mine too:

last year you tweeted this: Jeff Goodman ‏ @GoodmanCBSObviously, SMU AD Steve Orsini more clueless than anyone thought. RT @Darivuh: @GoodmanCBS Why would anyone want Larry Brown at this point?

Is it too soon to say he has proved the doubters wrong?

Jeff Goodman (12:32 PM)

No question. Now that was when he was hired, and I questioned whether he would be able to put a quality staff together. That was the key for him -- getting Jerrence Howard and Ulric Maligi.

I think that is legitimate answer and a good one. Who knew. I think the key to LB success is that he just hung around college bball when he was out of coaching. I bet that whole time he was thinking about how he would put together a successful program. When he got to SMU it was just a matter of making it happen.

I like his answer on the Cinci SMU game too. Nice job with the questions boys.

A national college bball chat on ESPN and we get three questions about SMU. WOW! how things have changed. Not to mention, Goodman pick us to beat the #7 team in the country. Thank you, Larry

There are many keys to what makes LB successfull...he's a very sharp guy, motivated, energetic, has stayed close to the college game, a leader, connects to people, respects people, takes a holistic approach to the job, great x's & o's coach, has more skins on the wall than anyone, consults experts and he knows a lot of them (from Calipari to Bill Self to World Wide Wes), etc. he aint a one trick pony, not offense to One Trick Pony

Coach Brown is universally accepted to be a top 10 NBA coach all-time. Many have him top 5. Give him a better roster and he would have equaled if not exceeded Phil and Pop.
