"Dear Students-
I wanted to take this opportunity to thank you for helping us create Moody Magic and for turning Moody Coliseum into one of the best homecourt advantages in college basketball. Your support has been truly amazing.
I also wanted to remind you that, in your role as fans, you represent SMU. Without dampening your enthusiasm, I must ask that you refrain from using any foul language or other inappropriate actions at games. Cheer for SMU – not against our opponents. Our players “Play the Right Way†and as our 6th Man, I would like you to “Cheer the Right Way†and represent our basketball program and our institution with class.
With two games this week and other big games on the horizon, I look forward to seeing you again at Moody. Thanks again for your tremendous support.

Oh you can get rowdy all you want. Just be smart and don't under cut the accompishments of what the team is doing on the court. If you need another translation....don't be asswipes.

Since we have never really been in this position before, it's good to have some instruction, some constructive criticism and some positive reinforcement from someone who obviously knows how to "do it right".

I think the students were fine. Probably just wants to make sure another Rutgers issue does not even accidentally pop up. Good proactive measures taken. Especially since we are on nation TV and if the mic is in the right place at the wrong time it could really damage our image. As usual good job by Coach Larry Brown.

Posted this in the other chant thread, but Larry's email is similar to the famous "avuncular" letter from President "Uncle" Terry Sanford to the Cameron Crazies in 1984, which spawned the "We beg to differ" cheer (instead of the tired and annoying "[deleted]" cheer students are so fond of).

Yes - our students should put the B_ll S___ chant to bed. They have chanted it a couple of time, and as we all know Larry does not approve of stuff like that. Otherwise good stuff by our students.

im not a fan of the bullsh-t chant either actually. I really cant stand when students chant obscenities. I think that for the most part like 95% of our chants have been good. I think as time goes on we will develop some of our own chants that become a signature of our student section / the mob.

I agree. Right now I'm just excited we have students/fans there and willing to yell at all.

Funny, that's roughly the same year they threw panties at herman veal when he was introduced. Beg to differ is everything that sucks about dook and Cameron. Can we just go one freaking fan thread, w/o holier than thou dook dweebs waxing poetic about their self proclaimed supremacy on all things fan and cheering. K thx
