Oh I get it now

Mitchell was a five-star prospect at Plano Prestonwood Christian Academy. Here’s his Ohio State bio.

He is looking to transfer closer to home to be closer to his father, who is experiencing health issues.

Here’s what makes the whole scenario all the more interesting. Mike Mitchell’s younger brother Mickey is a top basketball prospect in the Class of 2015 and has been committed to Ohio State for quite a while.

They would make a tremendous package deal for a Dallas area school.

Can Mickey play defense is the question from this point on out for any LB recruit.

I know the family and Ken quite well. Ken's been battling these problems for quite a while now. Mike is going to transfer, as of now Mickey is still committed and loves Matta. My take, Mickey isn't going to a school that many miles away without his older brother. Going that far away meant they were going to the same school. Now, if it's closer to home, I get the feeling that Mike could easily end up at Baylor and Mickey could end up at Texas, SMU, ect...Great kids, awesome family, Ken couldn't make his OV with Mike because his doctors wouldn't clear him. It's actually been a done deal since last week but the WHAC has kept it from being reported.

Sucks, I really like the family, I feel terrible for their father. Will be interesting to see what happens with Mickey but I tend to doubt he will come here given Ken's situation and no older brother. From a few that I know on the circuit, claim Mickey's a much better football player than Mike, and probably the best quarterback prospect out of Texas if he stuck with it in the last 10 years. Quite a compliment from someone that doesn't throw around statements like that.

That's right...Basketball school...right until either: a) June leaves and replaced with a coach that wins 10 games per season or b) June starts winning 10 games per season

This is Texas, we will always prefer to be a Football school. But I will enjoy our period of being a BB school :)

Some people, yes. But not everyone. If you told me dropping football would guarantee 50 years of high-level basketball, I'd take it in a heartbeat. I think (and have always thought) basketball is a better fit for small private schools. (Plus I just prefer basketball...)

But I'd really like to "have my cake and eat it, too". I'm hoping football continues to improve, although it will certainly be a longer process.
