Clearly pumped SMU is ranked ahead of a Texas, but they probably shouldn't be:

Both sitting at 5 losses.

Texas: not one bad loss and 5-6 big wins (some on road)

SMU: one bad loss and 3 big wins (all at home)

OOC is a push, but UT will get the nod on the much stronger conf scheduling. This is just fluff (fun fluff), but I wouldn't put too much stock in it.

Texas was lucky to pull off a win at Temple in OT. We would crush them

Perhaps, but they won on the road and Temple is one of those teams much better than their records may indicate. Besides, I'm not including Temple in their 5-6 wins bucket.

Not trying to rain on the parade. Just interested in hearing how anyone can form a solid argument as to why SMU should be over UT at this point. SMU clearly had the better week, but I can't form a decent argument for how SMU is better YTD.

no doubt they are in discussions with ch 8.

Texas' resume does appear to be slightly better at this point, but:

I was very impressed with their wins against Kansas and at UNC. In conference, the ranked teams they beat were Baylor, Iowa St, and OK St. Two of those have completely fallen off since. Iowa st has struggled as well
