It's official: We are back from the dead.

It's not just the ranking and the national pub, it's that the students, the university, the alumni, and Dallas are excited about SMU sports. The Death Penalty did not just shut down the football program, the aftermath of the DP and the University's response killed the basketball program as well as any interest in men's basketball or football for over 25 years. There are been moments where they has been a pulse, a win over ranked TCU in football, some second tier bowl games, a couple of the Sassser years...but this is the first time we are really back. Winning big on a national stage, impressing the world, and a very bright future. Congrats to all and god bless the Ponies.

Well said. As fans we have to remember to stay humble and grateful for our success. That's not to say we shouldn't celebrate big wins and talk a little trash every now and then, but Coach Brown and this team give SMU a golden opportunity to destroy some of the rich/snobby/country club stereotypes and truly become a university supported by people from all walks of life in Dallas.
Let's not become so insufferably arrogant (looking at you, TCU football 2009-2010) that we alienate potential fans.
Enjoy the ride - it's only going to get better.

maybe we can covert all these new fans to long term smu fans and see increased applications and increased SMU profile

So I walked into the Southampton Publick House tonight for a taste of the Imperial Porter. They make it late January, early February each year and it's gone fast. At 10.5 percent it's the real deal. It's also where you go to catch any game on a flatscreen.
Anyway, I hadn't been in since before Christmas. The bartender greets me with the following: "Damn....your Mustangs are awesome. That Cincinnati game was nuts...sorry about Temple."
Yeah...we are back from the dead. This is the eastern end of Long Island. Deepest, darkest Big East country. We are back people.

Grew up in Westchester. Folks built out here in the mid sixties...weekends and some summers growing up. Played a lot of pickup hoops and made some lifelong friends with the local ballin' kids in grade school and high school. A really fine high school hoops tradition out here ay? Moved here permanently directly from Dallas in 84. Live in Wainscott. Love that Publick House!

SMU community looks nothing like it did when I went there. I cannot wait to go back to Moody tonight!
