I was excited at the thought when I first heard he wanted the job, but I'm sure it was based more irrationally on name recognition than a serious analysis of the pros and cons. Fortunately, anyone who says they knew this was coming in Year 2 (even from those who were pro-LB) is a liar, so you know, there isn't anyone who can really cast that first stone.

But we're quite adept at calling each other idiots on this board, and it wouldn't be nearly as entertaining if we stopped.

I was on board from day one, but was also on board with Majerus, Williams, and Amaker. I thought any of them would get it done. Suffice it to say that Larry has been better than hiring Pitino, Calipari, or Phil Jackson.

Student reaction was really good.

You and me both. I think I said he was "too old" about 100 times, in addition to saying "I hope we don't hire some old guy now" as soon as it was clear Doherty was being fired.
