From my understanding in years past that faculty has been kind of apathetic to sports. But from all indications and what I am hearing that Coach Brown has built a solid relationship with them and they are as excited about SMU basketball as anyone else. This is a serious achievement imo.

I know we talk about the alums, fans, college president, AD, and students being behind you but when the faculty is behind you as well that really helps.

SMU profs are the worst. Half of them don't speak english and could care less about sports

You just universally described professors. My time at the history department also showed just how die hard sports fans a few of them could be.

There's some that are sub-par, but I certainly wouldn't continue supporting the school if I believed that.

The benefits of a strong athletic department are obvious and have been discussed ad nauseum, but the reason SMU exists is to facilitate education and research.
