Can someone comment on where camps like this fit into recruiting. Obviously in football schools camps are very important to identify potential players/recruits but how does it work in basketball. I've always thought that kids that have any kind of chance to play basketball in college are pretty much locked into an Aau team by the time they are in middle school/9th grade? Just wondering if this is important in the recruiting process or if it's just something that would be cool to do as a kid because why not take the opportunity to be coached by our staff.

I think it really helps with our brand perception in the city. We want as many people involved with our program as possible.

Totally signing my boys up for this. They have my genes so they're lost causes, but they'll have a blast!

This is all about building a fan base and getting people involved with the program. As you mentioned, when it comes to recruiting basketball kids, most of the good ones are locked in the AAU circuit and you recruit them at special camps/tournaments from a very young age. AAU is driving the process more and more now a days.

As mentioned above, I believe these camps are about building the fan base more than recruiting. Even though the two go hand and hand. The really cool thing is the kids will get to be around LB and staff, the SMU players and you never know who else LB will bring by as special guest(s).
