Isn't that channel 38 on Dallas cable? I'm in to watch.

Thanks for the note, HoustonP.

I know I get Txcn in Houston, will Dement be on in Houston too? Or is this a local deal only?

Anybody watch the show? Any good questions? What was Dement's take on the upcoming games. Don't know much about Nevada and I know Fresno is going to be tough. Hopefully, Sass will be even better than he was last year when we played them.

I was meaning to watch it and totally forgot, ended up going out to dinner and remembered on the way home.

Houston Pony, how was the show?

It was good. Talked a lot about Hancock and how he's played well. Also talked about the success Dement's had in recruiting around the Metroplex. Nothing earthshaking, though.

I would say Dement's success in recruiting is due all to Coach Tubbs. That guy can recruit. I think he is the guy that has brought in Sasser, Q, Voc, Hancock, Willie. We need to hold on to him for a long time. Go Coach Tubbs!

Houston Pony, did Dement give any credit to Tubbs, or did he take it all for himself?

No, when Sturm presented the question about his success, Dement started off by mentioning Tubbs and how he's such a big part of that equation. He definitely gave him credit.

I thought it was an interesting interview. They got around to talking about the difficulty in scheduling big name teams to come to Dallas and play against the Ponies. Sturm asked about arranging "2 for 1"'s, which I thought might be reasonable. But, Dement said, "No, we're good enough to not have to do that."

I am glad to hear Coach Tubbs got credit.

The schedule thing is a good question. Dement takes a lot of heat for not having a tough schedule. I think this years was much better than last years. What a lot of people forget, including myself, is that a lot of big teams will not schedule us because they are afraid to loose. We are in between a great team and a mediocre team, so teams don't want us on their schedule.

I hope next years schedule has three or four top 25 games. This year we had two and one in a tourney.

It was my question that was on the air...I didnt actually word it so he would show it...oh well, maybe noone else did. I actually emailed him at the Ticket.

Why would a school be worried to schedule the Ponies? All the top schools schedule tough opponents all the time to help their ratings come tourney time...Duke, Stanford, Mich St, Arizona...all have tough non conference play so I don't understand that arguement about it being difficult to get teams to play us??

The reason big teams do not want to schedule us is simple, we are good enough to beat them, or scare them at the least (see OU, Tenn), but we are not well known enough nationally to garner any respect. So it is a lose lose situation for a big name team either a) they play us and win, people say no big deal because we aren't a "name" team, or b) they play us and lose, and it is a big upset in the eyes of a lot of people. Just like when I was watching that Tenn. game, all the announcers kept saying is how suprising it was for SMU to be leading.
