Nic Moore CANNOT sit for 9 minutes.

We saw what happened. Nic got his second foul and did not play the rest of the half. Basically negated a nice SMU start with a 9 point lead down to a 4 point deficit at half.

Manual tried, but other than going 3-3 from the free throw line, he did nothing. Got to trust that Nic will not pick up that 3rd foul. have to keep him in there. When he is not in, the offense does not work.

If he would not have sat he may have fouled out earlier.

There are other talented guards on this roster, someone besides Nic needs to step up on a consistent basis.

No one is really a ball handler though. We had this same problem last year without a true PG. The AAC is a guard driven conference. When you say we have talented guards what area of talent are you talking about besides defense?

Who are these other guards you speak of?
Nic needs to not put us in a bad position and rack up early fouls.

Sterling Brown, Keith Frazier and Nick Russell. Sterling has shown flashes, KF too. Both were non factors today. They just have to learn to bring it every night.

This is undoubtedly a different team when Nic isn't on the floor, but if we're gonna be consistent others guys have to step up when one of our key players runs into trouble. (Think Cannen for Marcus in the first half against Cincinnati.)

No one has stepped up at PG for the last 2 seasons. How can someone without that skill set magically step up now?

Okay, I just realized the thread was started because of Nic's ability to run the point, not as a scoring option. So, yes Nick is really the only other option at point.

On the bright side, won't be an issue next year

Well Nic is our best shooter so you are not wrong but either way most of our guards are really geared to play good defense and be roll players. They do that very well. Just not 1st option scorers and ball handlers like Nic. If Nic can stay out of foul trouble we should be okay.

I'm not saying they will. I'm saying they have to if we want to be consistent. No player can carry a team through every game without tripping occasionally.

When Nic Moore is off the floor, the team lacks adult supervision. I think his early fouls today were from fatigue. I think he was gassed going in to the game, caused hesitancy on the long shots and the sad showing at the line. That will happen when we put so much on his shoulders every game.

Nic was definitely fatigued at the end of the game; he was trying, but the energy just wasn't there.
