SMU will finish with highest attendance average ever at Moody.

SMU, hoping to extend its home winning streak to 14 against Houston on Wednesday, will finish with the all-time highest season average at Moody.

SMU is averaging 6,677 in seven games at Moody. With the final three home games sold out, the Mustangs will beat the previous best of 6,665, set in 1961-62 with a 10-1 record at home.

Coach Larry Brown visited with the students and faculty camped at the ticket office on Sunday night, Monday morning and Tuesday morning.
“Of all the things that have happened since I’ve been here, that to me is the most exciting thing, having the students and faculty behind us,’’ Brown said. “A lot of neat things are happening around here, but the best part is the pride in the school. I think it’s going to resonate throughout every sport.’’

SMU will finish with a school-record seven sellouts. The previous best was five in 1984-85. The crowd of 7,166 in the reopening of Moody on Jan. 4 against UConn was the first sellout since 2001.

I'm not gonna disagree that this is awesome, but I'm curious to see how we do next year when all of the early season games are at Moody as well.

Obviously this year Culwell was a pain to get to for some and the team didn't have the buzz it does now, but early season games aren't nearly as big a draw as the conference games. (I love them, but I'm a baseball guy so obviously I would love early season games that even the team doesn't always seem to take seriously...)

Can you imagine us selling out every home game next year? :)

Mudiay next year should bring a lot of buzz. We could be a top 15-20 team preseason. I don't think we'll have any trouble "officially" selling out every game next year if we keep it up, but the actual butts in seats for a game against somebody like Lamar or Abilene Christian probably wont be 7K

I think that's probably accurate, if we close out the season well. The November/December games will have good reported attendance, but I'd be pretty surprised if we had over 4k actual attendance. (I'd love to be wrong.) The season opener should be a sellout regardless of the opponent. (And side note, I enjoy the games at the AAC, but I hope next season's opener is in Moody.)

Since Moody caps out around the 7,000 mark. Should be close to that. Only way to average above 7,000 would be to move a couple of OOC games to the American Airlines Center. Wouldn't mind 1 game a year at the AAC. Not sure if I want to see more than 1, though!

People are starting to come to see SMU now regardless of the opponent.

This is very true. Proved it at the Hofstra game. I was shocked how many people showed up an NFL game going on too!

I predict we will have 6k+ actually in attendance at every single game next season.

Already requested for tickets again next season. Do you get priority if you had season tickets in the previous year?

You should be able to renew your tickets before anyone else could take them. Unless you bought some sort of "special" season ticket... even then you probably would get a chance to renew first.

Basically, if you're willing to pay next years prices for the seats you have this year, you shouldn't have a problem.
