SMU is now a darkhorse for Myles Turner

Here are some quotes.

“It’s my first time to new Moody and it’s awesome,” Turner said. “It’s definitely changed a lot from last year, which was the last time that I came. The team and the fans have showed a lot of energy. The place looks beautiful and they got a full support system now, so everything is great.”

Turner, the No. 2 rated center in the class, had previously cut his list of schools down to just Oklahoma State, Kansas, Texas, Ohio State, Duke, Arizona and Kentucky. However, Turner says the recent success of the SMU program, which is now 21-6 this year, has changed his mind on them a little bit.

“They weren’t on my list last time, but they are somewhat back in the running now,” he explained. “They are kind of like a dark horse so to say. I still have my official list, but SMU is still kind of in the mix.”

“I have already visited Ohio State and Oklahoma State,” he said. “I would say the only better atmosphere than Moody was Oklahoma State. Ohio State had a great atmosphere, but this is definitely up there. I really like everything I have seen. They are definitely bringing energy and showing a home court advantage.”

Come on Myles. Do you really want to live in Stoolwater? We have former presidents, NBA Owners, NFL QB's and coaches at our games.

Kind of this....Kind of that. I don't understand at all why we aren't firmly in his top 3. Hall of Fame coach with a great home atmosphere and close to home. Gotta be something we aren't hearing about.

The other programs are closer to him and his handlers relationship wise probably. Also, we are somewhat clogged with bigs. The 2 OSU's and Kansas (if Embiid leaves) are not.

Is this new or has SMU always been "Warm" in the Interest column?

We have done everything possible to convince this kid that staying home and playing for a HOF coach and a team that has a real shot at a national championship is what is best for him. I agree with previous posters that it seems like the relationship with Kansas, OSU was kind of always the trump card.
Back off Warchild seriously.

Long shot for Turner...but we are in the running so that's great but wouldnt hold my breath on his commit. Thomas is the better bet.

Like comparing Shangra La (SMU) to any shitehole one can think of (both OSUs). I think the previous poster is spot on. We are too good and deep for him to expect to get 25+ minutes to get the lottery pick stat line he's looking for. All things being equal it's not even a question (we have former presidents of the United States coming to our games, nba owners/players/legends, celebs, super hot chicks, the best coach with the deepest connections in the biz, should I go on?).

I wish his interview had a question about those celebs in attendance and how smu games are becoming the hottest ticket in town - see what his reaction would be.

Anyway we are giving it our best shot - would be a great get and we will also be fine without him.

Out hustle the Huskies!

Duke and UNC are playing tonight. I think that's separate from Turner and Mudiay
