West lost to Berkner 75-73 at the Culwell Center on Tues night, but DJ had 27 points including
2 3pt shots in about a 5 second span in the 4th quarter. Mickey Mitchell (committed to Ohio
State) played tonight for West in his first game in many games. He has been sitting out while
recovering from an injury. He was obviously not in good shape, but did contribute to West's
rally. DJ was the star for West but he was slightly overshadowed by Berkner's Keenan Evans,
a Red Raider signee, who had 35 points.

Damn, sucks to hear about Mickey. Thanks for the update, sounds like a hell of a high school game to catch.

I kind of thought that the coaching staff was holding of on Mitchell due to the injury.

That's an old commit, guys. It's not saying that he committed during the game.

I was there too. Mickey only played last 90 seconds on first half and last 6 minutes of second half. Last went in when Plano West down 8.
Mickey is a kid that dominates. He forced a number of turnovers, looks like he is playing MLB like his brother on defense... and once his teammates started getting him the ball, look out!
He is amazing! He made a Pistol Pete like dish while posting up low, and posterized their big man on a massive dunk and one, on a drive that started on the baseline wing with 20 seconds left. I believe he finished with 8, maybe 9 points in 8 minutes.
I was in awe of Mickey Mitchell, as this was my first time to see him play. He is an alpha/game changer, IMO. No question he is Incredible.
I believe I read somewhere that DJ had moved ahead of Mitchell as a prospect, but I would take Mitchell in a heartbeat.

Aren't we still in the hunt?

DJ Hogg plays zero defense and show minimal effort rebounding. However, he is very smooth on the offensive end.
Rumors are circulating that both Mitchell brothers will be coming to SMU.

Potential is all that matters. LB gets his team to play how he wants.

True, defense is more effort and discipline. Offense is more skill. I'd rather have offense because defense can be taught easier.

I wouldn't say zero defense. He blocks multiple shots in each game but mostly as a help defender.
Having said that - he is not a good defender on the ball, and I agree with Laxer's comment about minimal rebounding effort. He is mainly a scorer who sometimes uses very poor shot selection like 40 ft away. LB could make him a much better player by correcting some bad habits.
Hope some of you are right that Mickey Mitchell might come to SMU because even out of shape
and used sparingly in the game he was a very focused force.

That's much more encouraging. I'm just glad he's back on the floor, feel for the kid. But that sounds more like his game.

What is the scoop on his brother? Isn't he currently at Ohio State playing football?
