Just got an email about purchasing tourney tix. Went to the link and it has you select all the games you are willing to commit to purchasing if applicable. I checked 'em all. Crazy.

There is a link, and then:
*Second/Third Round tickets will be charged per round. If your order is able to be processed you will be charged initially for the SMU’s first session, and a second charge if SMU is to advance to the following round

*Regional & Final Four tickets will be charged for the entirety of the session. If your order is able to be processed you will be charged for all-sessions and receive each session at will call at on site

*You may request tickets to each site of the tournament. Please request only for sites you will actually attend if SMU is sent there. We will only receive tickets for the location(s) in which we are selected to participate

*An email confirmation will be sent to you following our selection/qualification for each site if we are able to confirm your request. This is the final confirmation of your order, and there are no refunds or exchanges.

*Your credit card will be charged $1 now, and will only be charged for the tickets if your request is confirmed.

*Information regarding hotel and will call locations will be posted on http://www.smumustangs.com the Tuesday prior to each tournament site.

*Seating allocations are determined by the NCAA. Orders may be split and/or located in the upper level of the arenas.

*Requests will be filled based on Mustang Club Priority Points and current year season ticket holder status.

*If you have questions, please contact the SMU Ticket Office at [email protected]

I had a hard time following exactly what they meant. What you are saying makes sense, and I will now start clicking like mad.

I didn't get it until I clicked on the link. Much clearer there.

Just talked to the ticket office for 10 minutes ... Was concerned that I would get screwed and put in the upper deck or something. Guy made the following points:

1) Basketball season ticket holders (approx. 1,400 people, ~ 3,000 seats) have priority ... Should easily get all those peeps the prime lower section(s)
2) Should be good for the number of seats you own - may have a hard time getting a massive order filled in for the final four

Either way, it would be stupid to NOT request final four tickets

+1 ... Pretty low chance that we would get all those rounds, but I want to see at least one NCAA game. My budget will be hurting if we get like St. Louis then Memphis / Indy. Praying for an San Antonio opener.

Can't believe I just did this. This season is so surreal. Round of 64, selected San Diego, San Antonio, St Louis, or Raleigh. San Antonio is preferred, seeing how I will have to figure out how to get myself and 2 small children there since hubby takes an annual guy trip to Vegas that week. We've never had this kind of conflict before (and most of the guys on the trip are SMU grads -- tried to convince them to change the trip dates for the first time in the 18 or so years they've been doing this. They're all hoping to do a road trip to San Diego to interrupt their sitting in the Barry Manilow theatre watching multiple screens). Hubby can meet me in San Diego if I can just survive (and afford) a plane flight with the two children. Mom or dad can Meet Me in St Louis from KC, or I can drop the kids in KC and head to St. Louis solo. I don't know what I'll do if we end up in Raleigh, but since that would be a site where I would see both SMU and my other alma mater Duke, I'd have to figure out a way.

For Sweet 16, I was prepared to just select Memphis, but hubby said I had to select all regions: "if nothing else you can go alone and I'll stay home with the kids because if SMU is in a Regional, you have to go."

I already have 4 Final Four tickets in hand from the NCAA lottery, but I'd much rather sit in the team allocated seats down lown than some god forsaken nosebleed seats in the rafters of the cavernous Jerry World.

On the ticket allocation process, emailed ticket office asking:

1) Will seat location be determined by season ticket holders then priority points? Meaning, will someone with no season tickets but more points be better off then me? I just don't want to get really hosed with upper deck seats. Would rather go through secondary market in that case. And,

2) Does SMU being in Dallas have any bearing on what second-third round city we are put in?

Response:

With regard to #1, Season Ticket holders will be allocated first. We will use the priority points within the season ticket holder group, so just being a season ticket holder does not guarantee a lower level seat (obviously coaches and players families and guests are also included in that first group), but it certainly does give you a much better chance at being in the lower level. The sites for which we will have a larger # of requests versus those with smaller will play into the allocation as well, but to answer your question as a season ticket holder you are ahead of anyone who is not a season ticket holder regardless of your point total versus theirs.

With regard to #2, our placement likely has no bearing with where we are located nationally. Unless you are a top 4 (protected) seed you are placed based on committee determination and not by location, so as Jason said most likely being in Dallas will have no bearing on where we are placed.
