Activities During TimeoutsI am not here to disrespect the recognition that a few groups got during timeouts last night, but I really wish SMU would move these things to halftime or any game but the BIGGEST of the year.
Everything about the game experience this year is amazing and night and day from previous years. These timeout ceremonies remind me of the old SMU. It is a complete show-stopper/buzz kill moment when the music should be playing to keep the energy high.
Re: Activities During TimeoutsExactly. Doing the band at the first timeout absolutely killed what was a great arena at the time.

Re: Activities During TimeoutsNic Moore's 2 fouls, benching and a 15-0 run killed the great arena.
Re: Activities During Timeoutsis that because there weren't many called timeouts? As in, do we have set announcements during media timeouts, and music for the duration only comes during called TOs? It was noticeably different last night.

Re: Activities During TimeoutsThe point is, we should be saving all of the recognition during spare games. For the big games we should be going ape sheet at the other teams huddle.

Re: Activities During TimeoutsI can remember specifically they did that damn 'where's peruna' gag during a particularly heated point in the game. Going into the halftime call the students were booing raucously and you can't really boo a girl finding a stuffed horse.. Promotions are important, I'm really just complaining to complain cause thats what message boards are for right?
Re: Activities During Timeouts
My point exactly. We got off to a great start, and then gave Pitino a quiet arena to make adjustments at the first timeout. Inexcusable and amateur. Shake It Off Moody
Re: Activities During TimeoutsYeah, the band recognition thing did not need to be done in the middle of a big run for us in our biggest home game of the season. Save it for halftime

Re: Activities During TimeoutsI was waiting for someone to start bickering once we lost a home game. Come on we are having an amazing run in an incredible place and environment that other schools would love to have. I am so proud of every facet of our games - especially our team play and the entire game experience. I would hate so see the comments if we ever lost more than ONE game (this to the defending National Champions who are pretty darn good again...I hate to admit). I prefer to stay positive and thankful. Go Mustangs!
Re: Activities During TimeoutsHonestly, I would like to take the opportunity to thank all of the volunteers that were recognized last night. First and foremost, I would like to thank the Morgan Campaign volunteers. This group of individuals dedicates a substantial amount of their personal time to raise about $3.0 million dollars every year. For those of you unfamiliar with athletic department finances, this is an incredibly important and vital aspect of our annual budget. As someone who has participated in this for at least the last 5 years, I can personally attest to the time commitment and difficulty encountered in making this effort, and I was incredibly grateful for the opportunity to be honored on court during the basketball game last night.
Next, I would like to congratulate the seniors that were honored last night. I wish you all the best of luck through the remainder of this basketball season. Further, I hope for your best as you continue to pursue a degree from Southern Methodist University. Congratulations to the members of the band that were recognized and to all of the other various groups that were honored last night as well. Thank you for your commitments, and I wish you all the best. "This is . . . dedication to distraction by fans. Is that what I'm going to go with Jay?"

Re: Activities During Timeouts
Has nothing to do with the loss or thinking negative, it just wasn't the time and place for that type of recognition. Basketball is all about momentum and these buzz kill moments don't need to be smack in the middle of energy moments. You would never see this down the street at Mavs games, especially during an important game. Being positive and enjoying this year is great, what happens next year when Cincy comes in with the division and a top 5 ranking on the line - SMU makes a big play - Cincy calls timeout and we have someone on the court talking into a mic for 5 mins. The opposition is rattled and they should be hearing noise the entire timeout.
Re: Activities During TimeoutsNic Moore had more to do with why we lost than the activity during any timeout...........
