Just food for thought. I know they are undefeated but when you look at their schedule it is amazing they are ranked as high as they are. They only played three teams that have an rpi higher than 50. Their best win is Saint Louis...SMU played nine games against teams with an rpi higher than 30. Just thought it was interesting.

I like the current Bracket picks on EPSN. Have us as a 9 playing an 8. Win and probably get WSU. I like that match up the best of all the 1 seeds we could see early in the tourney.

I agree with Ponyte. For some reason, I'm hating all this Wichita State love. They haven't played anybody but they DID make it to the Final Four so they have credibility that they can play with the big boys. Would make a HUGE splash if their only loss this year came to us. Imagine the publicity.

This

They may be legit, but probably some of this is coming off what they did last year? Seems people are enamored with tradition and previous results. UConn perfect example, some people are still putting them as a 5 seed (I think I saw that)? We are better than UConn and Memphis, Memphis played an amazing game in the second half of our game (so did Louisville for that matter).

Not sure why people think RPI is the end-all-be-all of information? BPI takes into account the same stuff that RPI does (isn't this correct?), but adds more to the formula (e.g., margin of victory, games with key players out, etc.). People think Syracuse hitting a 3 point shot at the buzzer (throwing up a prayer) to beat BC is the same thing as them blowing BC out by 40 points?

I don't know a lot about college bball and there are tons on here smarter about this stuff than I am.

BPI is the better gauge of where teams stand. However, many people focus on RPI because it is the metric used to place teams in the tourney.

The Wichita state team is largely the same team that made the run to the final 4 last year. They are legit just like butler's back to back teams that played for the national championship. I know they haven't played anyone but they beat everyone on their schedule including all of their road games which is just simply hard to do in college basketball. Florida and WS are the no 1 seeds I would not like to play. All the other teams that are vying for that number 1 spot have demonstrated flaws that make them very beatable. That said let's make some noise in the AAC to get to a 7 seed or let's hope we draw a 10 because I,d rather play 2 pretty good teams than a pretty good and then great team.

I think they are legit and they belong there, but they are still the team I would want us to play if we have to hit a low seed early. They just haven't played the kind of competition that can cause them to get unsettled - and I think our D might rattle them.

Not saying we would have a great shot, but the best of the 1 seeds to have to draw.
