Question from a Purdue/SMU fanHi guys, first time poster here with a question to ask. With the addition of Mudiay next year does this mean he bumps Nic Moore from the point or do they both play together in the backcourt with Moore remaining the point guard? My Boilermakers are in the dumps this year and being a Moore fan I've jumped on the SMU bandwagon, I think next year SMU has a good chance at top 10 and legit NCAA title contender if they can get Turner to stay home which probably is a longshot!
Re: Question from a Purdue/SMU fanWelcome! There's lots of room on the wagon. The thinking on this board is that they both play guard, with Nic having a stronger shooting role. LB has said he wants to get Nic more shots next year, and Eman should really help there.
Re: Question from a Purdue/SMU fanWelcome. I think most people think it will be a matter of them both starting, with Moore playing off the ball a lot to take advantage of his shooting ability. They will be smu's only point guards, so I am sure one of them will be in the game virtually all of the time.
Re: Question from a Purdue/SMU fanI think SMU can make the sweet 16 this year, next year with what the Mustangs have back with the addition of Mudiay and an improved Frazier they look to be pretty loaded! What's up with the Center who got hurt, is he relevant next year or is he going to find it hard to get minutes?
Re: Question from a Purdue/SMU fanIf they can somehow get Turner on board that lineup will be sickening good! Hope that kid realizes this and decides to hop on board, it would be a great team!
Re: Question from a Purdue/SMU fanWelcome,
I am not a knowledgeable fan for what it’s worth. I think Nic stays at the point. Larry Brown is huge on D and Mudiay may take some time to learn defense. That said, Mudiay will play quite a bit as we need ball handlers and scorers. What are your thoughts about the strength of the Big 10 this year? Seems like a strong conference.
Re: Question from a Purdue/SMU fanIn my opinion, the only Big Ten team that has a shot at a final 4 is Michigan State, they've had tons of injuries this year but finally have their whole team back entering the Big Ten tourney. Beilein from Michigan has done a wonderful job this year, losing Burke and Hardaway to the pro's and McGary to injury this year Michigan has overachieved mightily this year, Stauskas should be the Big Ten MVP. As for the other tourney teams like Iowa, Ohio State and probably Nebraska I look for each of them to possibly win a game possibly two but not anything more.
Re: Question from a Purdue/SMU fanI believe both Mudiay and Nic will start and Nic will play more of a 2 because he moves better without the ball than anyone of the team and has the best outside shot. If we get Turner or Jamison we could make a run.
"We will play man to man and we will pick you up at the airport." - Larry Brown

Re: Question from a Purdue/SMU fanI've watched Nic many times in High School, kid is a winner, wanted Purdue to get him first when he graduated from Plymouth High School and second when he left Illinois State. SMU is right on the cusp of being an elite team, new gym with Larry Brown as Coach make them a destination point now, hope Turner buys in and decides to stay in Texas, I get a funny feeling he may be a Dookie when all is said and done, hope not!
Re: Question from a Purdue/SMU fanI'm on the side that Nic still runs point. Makes the better decision and he'll be a junior. You can't replace that decision-making and Mudiay is raw on the decision-making in the limited times I've seen him live fwiw. Mudiay is better off the wing too imo, he can play off and slash. In all honesty, I don't think there's going to be much of a difference as they're both able to run the point and bring the ball up the court but I personally believe that Nic will be out top when sets are ran and I also think Nic plays better with the ball in his hand whereas Mudiay doesn't need to dominate the ball to be effective. That's what I'm seeing from watching them both live but nobody can know how they will play together when you put them on the floor at the same time. My first instinct would be to play Mudiay off the ball though without a doubt and I think that is what Larry will ultimately start with.
I also trust that you saw Moore in hs? How much of a screw-job was that with him not winning Indiana's Mr. Basketball? Still irks me to this day just because he signed with a "smaller" school.
Re: Question from a Purdue/SMU fan
JMO, think SMU is probably 4th on Myles Turner's list. Probably behind Texas, Okie St, Kansas (if Joel Embiid leaves). While Duke & Ohio St are on Myles list. Myles family wants to make all of his college games 2015 INDIANAPOLIS OR BUST
Re: Question from a Purdue/SMU fanI think Cody Zeller was Mr Basketball Nic's Senior year, I love Moore's game but Zeller deserved the award, he was the best player in the state that year. My first time seeing Moore was as a Frosh, kid had the same built he has now, loved his game than, he's a gamer who wills himself to be the best player he can be! I will have my bar seat ready when SMU tips off next week in the NCAA's favorite sports week of the year!
Re: Question from a Purdue/SMU fan
You are correct, Zeller was Mr. Basketball that year. I still don't agree with it. I think he got screwed but that's my personal opinion having seen them both numerous times their senior year. Cody was very good, don't get me wrong, just thought Nic had the bigger year and I didn't/don't have a dog in the fight other than I'm an SMU fan with LB there. Couldn't go wrong with either of them though.
Re: Question from a Purdue/SMU fan
I completely agree with all of this.
Re: Question from a Purdue/SMU fan
Nic graduated from Warsaw High School.
