That is ecstatic to not be an 8/9 seed, facing a 1 in the second round?! Give me an 11 or 12 any day of the week with this year's pool.
It's all chance but I like the prospect of avoiding of Florida on Day 3 of the tournament.

I agree that could be a blessing in disguise, depending on our first round matchup- assuming we miss the play-in game.

No. I am anticipating that we'll be a 10 seed, at best.

With the way we've been playing lately, not sure it really matters.

I'm happy about the seeding as long as we don't get a play in game

That flat out hurt today. I will say that Michigan limped into the tournament in 1989 and won it it all. There have been other examples. What concerned me about today is it looked like we choked, short arming shots, playing panicky with the ball, not boxing out. We are still a good team, hopefully they can get into the dance, get a decent matchup and find the magic again.

yes, a lower seed would be good
but like hoop fan said, the way we are playing now is what's depressing

No one on the team is saying this, but it's all a confidence thing IMHO (all it is really). The confidence is fragile on this team - you see the euphoria against UConn and Cincy at home (and Memphis) but you see it crushed against Louisville. I think that loss is still messing with our confidence and we've just played so flat during crucial stretches with no sense of urgency in these last 3 games. Have to find a way to get the confidence back somehow if we have any kind of a chance of a run (my opinion is that you don't ride the team, but point out all the bulletin board stuff, give Yanick more minutes and build your team up - show them clips of MJ or Jerry Rice training or something . . . best in the world but still act like someone was stealing their lunch money everyday).
Good point about Michigan. I see a trend that a lot of teams that go deep into the tourney, many times had a disappointing conf tourney (more rest, bigger chip on their shoulders I don't know). So, right now, I hope all those low seeds beat up on each other and wear themselves out in long, grueling conf tourney games while we refocus and re-energize. (there's also a history of 12s beating 5s . . . just sayin').

If you want the best shot at winning the first game then the 8/9 seed is better but if you want to win the second game then the 12th seed is better. Never understood people wanting a harder first game.

I'll take the lower seed as it's likely that a 5 won't be much better on paper than us, an 8 or a 9. Given how things have played out this season I think there are 2-3 dozen very evenly matched teams that will occupy the 5-12 seeds. It becomes a question of match ups and who hits the floor with confidence.
I'm also happy as I believe that an early exit in the conference tourney can be a big help after a tough conference season.

This, we will get stomped by whoever we play, we have lost it. I would just rather be a high ranked team in the NIT and go far than get beat by Georgia State College for the Blind in the play in game.
