Whether we get in the opening first round or whether we get a bye and make the 2nd round I am happy for this SMU Mustang basketball team's first tournament appearance in 20 years. The team has exceeded the expectations of many and I will be cheering for them.

According to espn the last 4 teams in are xavier, dayton, nebraska and byu. So why do guys think we are in the 1st round?

Espn doesn't pick the tourney. Many bracket predictors have smu in first round, some have us out

Look at ESPN predictions on NFL draft order...their guesses are only slightly more informed than yours. I doubt anybody in that selection room has any positive connotations of SMU Basketball. We've got Larry Brown and some impressive home wins but really nothing else. Will it be enough to get is into the 2nd Round? I think so, but I think there is legitimate reason to be slightly nervous about tonight.

What you say is true. Additionally the committee might look at our rankings nationally on defense, FG percentage, etc. and judge us more favorably on overall resume rather than the last 3 games. I have hope that with our national stats and Larry Brown story that we will make it into the 2nd round seeding. If not, win the first one and go from there.

Absolutely agree. This season has been an amazing one. I can't wait for the future of this program.

FWIW, ESPN still has us as a lock to get in. Play-in or not, that counts.
