Big West Conference regular-season champs finished 23-11 before falling in conference tournament final.

Balanced attack: five players averaged 8 or more points per game, but none more than 11.7. Guard Luke Nelson (freshman, 6'3") averaged team-high 117; 6'8" junior forward Will Davis and 6'4" senior guard Chris McNealy averaged 11.1 points each.

The bigger the better? UC-Irvine has a freshman center, Mamadou Ndiaye, who stands 7'6" and weighs 290. Averages 8.0 points and 6.0 rebounds per game. Ndiaye is one of three seven-footers on the Anteaters' roster.

Ndiaye has blocked 99 shots this season — the rest of the team has blocked 115 combined.

Head coach Russell Turner is in his fourth season at UC-Irvine and has led the Anteaters to 21 victories in back-to-back seasons.

UCI outscored its opponents this season by an average of 71-63.6.

UCI is playing well down the stretch. Before falling to Cal Poly in the Big West Conference tournament, the Anteaters had won five straight, 10 of 11, 16 of last 19.

Big West regular season winner and an auto bid of the NIT. Gonna be a tough game. We need to play hard to snap our losing streak.

This team lost to a pathetic Cal-Poly team in their tourney. I doubt they will be a tough match for us.

With SMU running more of a half court offense set, this could be a tough match up frankly. If SMU was more of a run and gun/fast break team the bigs of UC Irvine couldn't set up down low in time..those guys have a lot of blocked shots this season.

They had a lot of blocked shots against whom-lesser competition. Have you seen them play?
