So if everybody expected SMU to get NCAA bid...

So if everybody, meaning most fans, coaches and experts, expected SMU to get NCAA bid, and most of those same people did not expect NC State to receive bid, most did not even think NC State was on the bubble, then why didn't the committee just make the logical and easy choice of SMU over NC State?

There would have been not even a peep of controversy from fans or experts. And you get the added feel good story of the underdog coming out of nowhere and a HOF coach who was supposed to be washed up leading them to the Tourney, and the Final Four in our home MetroPlex. If the decision was going to cause a firestorm of controversy, it just seems that the committee could have taken the easy way out and that would be that.

So simple, and yet these idiots screwed it up.

I think I know the answer, but it still just seems so obvious that the committee knew they were going to catch hell from 90% of those who are interested.

Actually Kris, I don't think they screwed it up at all, they made the logical choice for them, which was including one of their own.

The problem is we had no strong advocate on the selection committee, therefore it was SMU that got screwed. I'm sure they realized there would be some blowback, but that would pass in time. Small price to pay to get your team in while also minimizing an up-and-coming non-P5 school.

Still trying to imagine under ANY circumstances that a Big10 or ACC team ending the season ranked in the Top 25 being shut out of the dance. It simply would never happen, not in 100 years.

Beat one conference team we lost too, and this isn't an issue. WE didn't have the SOS to mess up with loses to teams we should beat. And we should have beat at least three conference teams.

That said, when both polls have you as a top 25 team going into selection weekend, SOS isn't the issue, quality wins and impressing the experts is. We got hosed.

I know this, the more I thought about it today, the more it simply reinforced my long-held personal belief that I have no problem whatsoever with SMU cheating. It has never bothered me and never will.

The NCAA is an inherently corrupt organization.

That last top 25 poll is pretty meaningless given that we lost on Thursday. Had a poll come out after the games on Sunday, we would not have been able to claim "top 25".

Broskis. We got 3rd in the aac. Teams lose games. Sos argument is junk. How is wichita st strength of schedule? We got screwed. If rpi is so important they should just use rpi only to seed and save the selection comittee a lot of headaches.
