Our staff should break every NCAA recruiting rule imaginable

Postby ponyinNC » Mon Mar 17, 2014 8:35 am

I know I will get blasted for saying this, but the NCAA system is rigged in both football & basketball for the P5 to always have the last laugh.

AAC has NO representation on the committee, and it shows: LV a 4 seed? C'mon. Tenn/NCState/Iowa in over SMU?? The entire SOS argument is a smokescreen to push out the little guys and make room for at-large P5 teams. No one can convince me otherwise. Heck, NCState wasn't even on the bubble - and they get in because they beat a free-falling Cuse team in the ACC tourney? It is a joke!

Therefore, I wouldn't really feel bad about our staff ignoring the entire NCAA rulebook and going scorched earth on the recruiting trail. Have a 90's UNLV-like run for a few years, or heck, get the new Fab 5 together and win some championships. Sure, they may get taken down 10+ years form now, but who would care?

Get Myles Turner. Do whatever we have to do. Follow this class up with the entire group of metroplex 5 stars. We got jobbed - it is time to push back.

my exact sentiment. I even wonder if we should consider backing out of the tournament. If not for Shawn Williams and Nick Russell - I would say we should. NCAA owns the NIT. Create a little havoc for them.

I do wonder if our big $ boosters use this as a rallying cry to pour money into our progarms and use political juice to finally get some respect.

Could this snub be the catalyst for our own T. Boone Pickens type??

I'm sorry, I meant on the political side - I realize we have very generous boosters.

They are not out to get us. Can we stop that too? The snub was large but not targeted at us. We had no AAC committee representation and it bit us badly.

I do think the selection showed that the committee doesn't respect our conference and yes, having greater representation would have undoubtedly impacted the outcome. But I don't think that the NCAA will ever pass up a chance to detract from this program and any of its accomplishments. We were, and are, the sacrificial lamb and they will continue to try and make an example of us. We just have to be loud enough that they can't ignore us and we will be. Let's sweep the NIT and make another run next year!

The NCAA would destroy SMU again as an "example" to other non P5 schools that cheat. Bad idea.

Bad idea? Yes. But I love the sentiment. No holds barred, not going down without a fight. Keep it coming, ponyinNC!

And maybe this time we would properly expose everyone else's skeletons...
