Possibly the real damage

I know that not making the NCAA will hurt recruiting. And it will hurt the current team, and most of all Nick and Shawn (who I am absolutely gutted for) but I think there is a far more dangerous side effect to what has happened. I just hope I'm wrong.

I am glad to hear that the red seats are sold for the game on Wednesday, but I am more worried that there does not appear to be the buzz from the students. And I fear that the Dallas community and celebrity support will be quick to evaporate. This would be a very bad time, in my estimation, to show the underbelly of the Dallas "sportsfan", if it's not all wins and glamour, they are not interested. We need to keep LB, and he has already made numerous comments about times he has felt the attendance was not what it should be, or the attitude to the program was lacking. We need to show him (and the team, indeed the nation too) that SMU has the support to fill Moody for an NIT game, and not that we don't show when we are feeling butthurt.

We need to fill Moody on Wednesday. Be loud. Show that we just want to watch Basketball and we will take whoever walks into our gym and never let them forget the experience.

I'm scared of what LB's take will be if there are 4-5,000 there.

I think Larry will handle it better than you appear to be. Chill out. It will be loud, we will win and the 2nd game will draw even more. Third game will be crazy loud.

LB is WAY more concerned about internal issues going on than what is happening with the Dallas fan-base.

We are hurting now but we achieved more this year than expected. It has not hurt recruiting yet and it should not going forward.

I think we could see around 4500 to 5000 fans against UCI but if SMU and LSU play then it could get close to a sellout. UCI will not necessarily be an easy game depending on how they play us and LSU would be a straight up war.

Internal issues?

I think he might be talking about the character issues.

Larry made a point to say yesterday how special of a place SMU was. I think he knows there's a lot of disappointment out there about missing the NCAAs and wont be expecting a sellout Wed night. I don't think he's leaving here until he's put SMU on the map in a big way.

I don't know what turnout will be like Wed night, but the general Dallas sports fan will absolutely be back behind this team next year with Mudiay coming in. If we beat UCI and face Cal and LSU in next games there will be good sized crowds.

Nothing wrong with being happy after a big win. Definitely better than walking around moping which I hope we don't see Wednesday.

LB has said repeatedly that our guys don't respond well to adversity...attitude and actions quickly start to unravel. That's all I'm referring to...didn't mean to cause a panic. You can tell he's trying like hell to iron out this issue and that it's way higher on his list than whether SMU fans arrive 10 minutes late.
